Possible that the optical head is damaged and so might need a replacement. If the piece you mentioned has come off the optical unit then the unit is damaged and will not read or pass on information to the processor to run the disc..
If it has been a while the laser lens is probably dirty and needs cleaning, you can buy a disc cleaning kit and load it in the machine. The other option is to dis-assemble the unit and use a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol being careful to clean it gently. If this fails a new assembly will be needed but this would not be cost effective.
my sl-sv550 portable cd player it is...Answermy sl-sv550 portable cd player it is not switching on i want this model schematic diagram i think power supply stage faulty I went to panasonic service center in bangalore (INDIA) told that not possible this model not sold in INDIA please give me the support
Here is the link to the user manual if you need it;
although of course it doesn't list that error code and panasonic no longer support the model on their site except for the user manual. If you don't mind paying $19.50, then these guys have the service manual available which almost certainly will list the error codes and their solutions;
Sorry I had no luck finding that one for free.
My guess is that the lens needs cleaning, and that the error code simply means "bad disc" or something similar.
Best way to clean the lens is with a cotton bud/ Q-Tip moistened (not wet) with gin - nothing else works as well or as safely. This should be easy to do as you have direct access to the lens, just be gentle.
If you get no luck from that then the best i can suggest is to contact panasonic direct;
and see if they can tell you what the code means, if they do, and you need help solving the problem, please ask again.
Good luck, I hope this helps
