Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB5601AWS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher
My maytag is making a grinding noise throught out the wash cycle im pretty sure its not the pump because it pumps the water out without no noise at the end of the wash. Ive taken it all apart found no debris stuck in any of the parts. The motor spindle spins free with no problem dosent seem to be loose or have a bad bearing but the noise seems to be coming from the motor area I cannot be sure. I would hate to replace the motor if that is not the problem any help would be greatly appreaciated
Sounds like the macerator is bent out of shape from something going through the pump. Get a impeller kit and replace all the parts and you should lose the grinding noise. I can look up the part number if you want

We have the same problem, the repair guy told us it was something being chewed up by the garborator in the machine. turned out to be a piece of plastic from the factory.
It is doing it again, about 1 yr later. I have no idea how to get to the part I need. Do we get to it from under the machine? I think that is how the repairman did it before, buut not 100% sure.
Please let me know.
