Question about Refrigerators
I have not been able to get the water from the dispenser to work. Water does go to the ice maker and that works. It appears like the plastic container which is suppose to cool the water becomes frozen. I have turned the temp down in the frig, but it doesn't seem to help. I was able to get water to cmoe out once, (it was dirty, but did eventually become clean). Once I let it sit though, it stopped working again.
I have pretty much given up on it and now when I push the lever for water to come out, I can't even hear the relay in the back kick in. Thanks for any help.
I have a GE TFX25JPCG and the ice make and dispenser work fine. I was having the issue of the water line located behind the vegetable drawer freezing up and have thawed that several times. Each time that happened I could still hear it trying to dispense when the button was pushed. This time I do not hear it trying to do anything. Would this be a silenoid issue? Or some other issue? If silenoid how do I replace it?

I need to know the make and model # to more accurately help you. First and foremost, you will need to thaw your holding tank with a steamer...do NOT use heat gun or hair dryers. The problem could be one of several but I would start by checking the solenoid that supplies the dispenser to see if it is burned out. It is usually located in the back lower part of frig where the water inlet line hooks to. There are usually 2 solenoids.... the ice maker and the dispenser. Unplug the frig before testing these. The resistance across the ice maker and dispenser are usually the same. If the dispenser solenoid is "open" on the ohm meter then the whole water supply valve needs replaced. Another problem with some units where the dispenser is on the FREEZER side...the lines behind the door will freeze. I've seen this with LG's and GE's. They make a special heater modification for units notorious for this latter problem.
