Question about Orion TVDVD092 9 in. TV/DVD Combo

1 Answer

The only functions the original remote for my Orion TVDVD092 performs is to turn the power on or off ocassionally. Is the proble with the remote or the sensor?

My original remote 076R0HE04B for the Orion TVDVD092 will not change the channels, sound or any other of the functions on it. It will only turn the power on and off, sometimes. I change the batteries often but no change. Do I need to order a new remote or could there be another problem (i.e the sensor)? I love this little tv/dvd combo as I live in florida and purchased it in 2004 after during a hurricane threatened our area and we were without power. The following year there was another threat but this time when the power was out for a couple of days we could still entertain the kids by connecting the unit to the cars power source and watch movies. Please help.

Is there a problem with the original remote control that came with the television or with the television itself. The remote will turn the tv on and off but will not change the channels, operate the volume control or dvd player functions. We've changed batteries several times, gotten up close to the sensor and it still doesnt work. Could something other than the remote be the problem, such as the tv sensor and if so can it be repaired?

If the remote does even one function the receiver in the set is not the problem. It is possible if the remote is designed to program to another unit you have it in the wrong mode TV or Vcr or something other than your set.

Most RCA and GE universal remotes can be programmed to work with your equipment. Walmart has one for less than $8 that works with most units, and also works with DTV tuners. You may have to program the DVD and the TV as two separate buttons

Hello,
You should be able to do a channel search and come across the inputs either at the upper end or the lower end of the channel search. Using the channels on the TV itself, not cable or satellite, scroll through the channels until the desired input is found. Once on the desired input open the DVD player and insert a DVD and close the drawer. The DVD should start to play automatically. When it gets to the place on the DVD to actually "play movie" press the select/enter button on the remote. As for the replacement remote I would get a universal remote. They are far fairer in price than an original replacement remote and every bit as reliable. Just make sure to take the model of your TV/DVD player with you to make sure the remote you purchase is compatible. You probably need to go no further than your local hardware store or department store. Save on the shipping too. However if you are set on getting the original remote here is a place http://www.orion.newremotecontrol.com/catalog_item.php?catnum=076R0DT090 they also sell a few generic remotes for a few dollars less.
Regards, Tony

Hello
Just power OFF the set by its main power OFF switch, and switch in ON, while listening very close to its mechanism side and see whether there is any sound of disc spin. If disc do not spin inside the mechanism, due to a faulty sled motor, the fault you descrbes here will occur. If disc spins inside, and still it does not reads the disc, the laser pickup unit is faulty and should be replaced. OK.

You usually need the original remote. The trouble with universal remotes is that they generally control only the basic functions of a TV (power, volume, channel) but not much else. Without the original, you often lose other functions. You can try the front panel buttons if yours has them. On some sets the on-screen menus allow you to access caption settings.

But are you sure the captions are coming from the TV? Sure, the TV is displaying them, but if you have a satellite receiver, cable box or digital set-top box, the captions may be coming from that device. This is likely to be true if the captions just mysteriously started and you don't have or aren't using the TV original remote. These devices often don't allow a TV's built-in caption decoder to work properly, so they provide captions themselves. You may have turned captions on using that device's remote. Check the menu for caption controls.

I'm sorry, but there is no access to the menu without a remote. If you want to try a universal remote, try the codes listed for Orion, Emerson, and Sansui.
