Re: GE refridgerator

If the unit has an ice maker or water dispensor, etc. there's always a chance a connection is loose or a valve is leaking by. If no other water is hooked up to the refer, then the defrost cycle water that should drain down to the bottom underneath pan is what is likely. You may have to take the inside rear panels off to see if the drain line is plugged up, that would allow water from the defrosting of the coils to drip inside the fridge vice outside like it should.

Re: GE refridgerator

I have the same problem. The above answer is right, I think. A friend told me to defrost the entire freezer/fridge once a year to keep the ice from clogging the drain line.

Take out the back panel inside your freezer and locate the drip line in there, it should be some where under the coils, check if its blocked up with ice, if it is you need to unclog it. there should also be a wire that runs into that drip line (it helps defrost that line) you might need to replace that wire.

My fridge is leaking, I don't know from where. I have a towel across the bottom on the inside so it won't leak on the floor. Is there any way I can correct this. There was no change in the temps.

Probably the defrost overflow tube is blocked. That water dripping out of the fridge should be siphoned by the tube to the rear outside of the fridge where the heat from the motor will evaporate the water from the defrost cycle. You need to remove the cover from the inside rear of the freezer andcheck that water can flow down the tube without spilling over the edges of the collection trough.

Model TBX21KLK water pooling UNDER vegetable bins

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Water build up back of freezer inside drips to bottom and leaks from under door.Looks like their is some sort of tray with hole in back then it overflows drips to bottom of freezer some of water freezes...

Our GE Profile leaked from the freezer door and this is what I was told by a service man to try before he came and it worked. There should be a "well" on the bottom of your freezer floor where the water runs when it defrosts. Yours is probably now covered with a sheet of ice. You can melt the ice with a hairdryer using dry towels to soak up the water as you work or really hot wet rags and ring them out in the sink. After all the ice is removed pour a small amount of warm water into the "well" and stick your finger in there and "plunge" it - like you would a clogged toilet - with your finger. This will purge the ice that blocked the drain. Check on this every couple of months to make sure you don't end up with the same problem in a year or so.

GE regrigerator not cooling or freezing

first defrost it by turning it off for 1\2 to 1 full day,put towels on the floor to catch the water, when a refridgerator gets frosted up it cant circulate the cold air,and if its one with the freezer on top then the cold air cant blow down into the refridgerator, check inside the refridgerator at the top where the thermostat cover is there will be a vent hole,it could have ice built up so much that its totally blocking the air flow. This usually happens when hot food is put in the refridgerator and causes steam,or the refridgerator runs too much caused by bad door seals,or the cooling fins on the back or bottom underneath plugged with dust and the freon gets too hot causing condensation inside the freezer which causes it to frost up,a plugged drain hole will back up water and freeze, the fan in the freezer may have stopped working, which is about a $60.00 part, and finally a bad defrost element (about a $40.00 part)which is a glass tube inside the freezer with a coiled up wire inside it that heats up at certain times to defrost any ice build up,(which is the last thing to check)

Ice maker not making ice. Water disp inside frig disp water.

the line that gives water to the ice maker, every time the water comes down it lives a drip of water that turns to ice blocking the line, get some hot water and a towel and place the hot wet towel on top of the line intel it melts the ice in side the line. it happens to my frige at list once a year. if that is not the problem the valve that supplies water tho the ice maker needs replacing, it's behind the frige at the bottom, where the line coming from the house meets the frige.
