Question about Panasonic PT-51HX40 51" Rear Projection Television
I have PT-51HX40
I was told to replace SKT392 since it had some mixing of colors.
Now I have replaced the SKT392 but it will shutt off in few seconds.
I do have the service manual can you please tell what section I need to be looking at .
Hi there. I suggest you put the old IC's back in and see if shutdown still exists. It's unlikely but possible one of the new chips is shorted. Check for "catwhisker" shorts in soldering with a magnifier, cleaning the flux off your connections with a toothbrush and 99% (anhydrous) alcohol.
Be sure you replaced them with exact parts. You mentioned using STK392 -??? (power rating missing). Biasing and running voltages are different for each type. None of the blue power resistors around each IC should be discolored. ANY off-tolerance resistor will make it difficult (if not impossible) to properly converge without stressing the IC's.
Finally, if the set shuts down in the SOS mode, the front LED (s) will blink with an error code. You make no mention of this. The speed of shutdown seems to me like a dead short on one of the power supply lines. Also, this set was designed to work with the chassis removed from the set and the boards installed. You shouldn't need to work with the board pulled.
Good luck, Mark
