Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I had this same problem. Was trying to explain that this printer printed on both sides of paper when I push the tray or whatever it is on the back of the printer. Something snapped and it has been printing since. I must have moved that thing on the back at some point and it wasn't totally connected.

If you have the install disk, go to the program for your printer and uninstall it. Then restart the computer, it should recognize it again. Re-install the printer and it's program. That usually solves most problems when a gadget goes nuts.
Also keep a can of air around, blow out insides; sometimes there's a photocell with dust on it.
