A couple of things to think about. If the radio is new, then the speakers may be bad. If the radio is not new and purchased from someone else, the radio may be bad. You are making sure the volume is turned up right? You did use a harness when hooking the radio up right? That is something I strongly recommend.

Just received my new cobra 29 lx cb. When I turn on the power the radio comes on for about 2 seconds then the screen goes blank and all fuctions cease. When the power to the radio is turned off, the screen...

  • Check that power cord up by the tip. It is possible it is a little loos in the tip (that hooks into the radio) Being new it almost has to be related to the power feed.
  • Make sure the fuse you are using is good. Use a 4 amp fuse in there.
  • Make sure you installed all the shoulder washers in your antenna properly or this will cause a short too.
  • Your power supply could be at fault too. Take a multimeter and turn it to DC volts and make sure 13.8 is coming out of it. The power supply could be failing under a load. Have you tried a quick setup in the car? See if sticking the power cord pos to pos and neg to neg on the car battery keeps the radio running better. You don't need to have the antenna hooked up for this just DO NOT key the mike. Just long enough to see if the radio stays on for more than 2 seconds.
  • If you do all this testing and the radio still cuts out then you have a defective unit and it needs to be replaced with a properly running unit.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I just bought an Alpine CDE- 103BT. When i turn it on, the radio works well but when i try to put a cd on or usb flash sounds...Help me pls

you have the wrong remote wire hooked up on the radio. there is more likely a blue, and a blue/white on the radio wires. hook it up to the blue/white, or if that doesn't work try an accessory 12v wire from somewhere else

If your radio shuts off with the key and you use the power ant. or the amp turn on wire for your amp when your radio shuts off so will your amps. If your radio is wired constant hot you need to change the red wire on your radio to a key hot.

My amp turns off when the radio is on but it turns on when the radio is off

Maybe somebody hooked it up to the wrong wire behind the head unit-try disconnecting the remote lead from the deck to whatever its plugged into-remote leads are generally solid blue in color-i always run mine to the fusebox and it shuts off when the car is off and comes on when the car is on-same thing just different location-anyhow check that out and see if that has any bearing on your problem-good luck

Radio not playing

it sounds like you didn't hook up both your power wires on your cd player. there is a red and yellow power wire. one is constant power to keep memory and the other turns on the radio when the key is turned. check to see if both are hooked up

Power Never Comes on

that remote wire has to be hooked up to the power or the radio power antenna wire which will switch the remote wire on when the radio is turned on, so that remote wire really should be hooked to the radio wire that gets power when the radio is turned on , thats why the sub is not turning on

I have a very old PIONEER car stereo KEH-4090SDK.When I turn off radio for several minutes I lose my station memories!Could you please help?

Hello Maddeshi

There are two power inputs. Normally a red and a yellow.

The red is hooked to the IGN power. When you turn off the vehicle, radio turns off too.

The yellow should be connected to the battery (+12VDC) so it always has power. This is how it keeps the memory, the time.

It sounds like the are both hooked to IGN. Each time the vehicle is turned off, the memories are lost.

Your post says, "When I turn off the radio". If this happens with the vehicle still running, we have to dig a little deeper.

Hope this helps you,

No Sound from Basslink

Do you have speaker wiring or RCA's hooked up from AMP to Basslink? Also check the settings, make sure you are have bridged the channels on amp.
