Question about Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum

Eureka Altima Bagless Upright Brush is not spinning

I've got a fairly new vacuum and the brush is not rotating. All dust bins are empty, the vacuum makes sound like it's running, but nothing is happening. The attachments are working, but I can't actually vacuum carpet with it. Any ideas?

Mine does the same but the lint, and hair

backs up in hose never goes into cup! Belt is good - we have taken it apart again and it's only 2 months old!

I am having the same problem with the vacuum sounding fine, but the roller is not rotating when I am pushing it. The roller does spin when in an upright position though, and I can do the hardwoods ok - strange.

For the person who is having lint stuck in the tubes - I had this happen too. I ended up cleaning the filter on the front, and that took care of the situation.

When I push the power button for my vacuum nothing happens. It had been working fine, then all of the sudden it wouldn't turn on.

You probably just have a broken belt. The belt needs to be changed about every 6 months regardless. I believe yours takes a style EXT U(Extended life upright), or a regular Eureka "U" belt works fine too.

Eureka Model Whirlwind litespeed. The rotart brush does not turn or rotate. Should it turn or rotate in order to give better suction?

Hello fnintel, yes, if you are using the upright vacuum it should spin, ( the belt likely slipped off, or the brush is clogged with hair and the likes.)
However, if you are using the hose on the vacuum like a shop vac, some models bypass the rotary brush.
Good luck!

You get to the belt & brush roll area from the top. On the hood of the vacuum, right behind the word Altima, to the right & left sides, you will see a screw. Remove them, lift off plastic hood. Check belt if broken or just stretched too big to catch brush to turn it. Check ends of brushroll for any hair, thread buildup & clean it. See if end caps turn easily. If one or both ends do not turn easily, the brush roll would need to be replaced.

I have a Eureka Altima and not sure how to change the belt?

1) Use handle release to lower handle
flat onto floor
2) Remove 2 screws from the front side of
brush roll cover
3) Lift and remove brush roll cover .
4) Remove brush roll and belt. Thread
new belt around motor shaft and
brush roll
5) Insert left end of brush roll first. Make
sure square on brush roll cap is in
place. Pull right side of brush roll to
stretch belt. Secure right end cap into
base.
6) Rotate brush roll 2 turns to center belt.
7) Replace brush roll cover
8) Replace 2 screws

And you can get the maual here.

I would like to disassemble my eureka altima to clean brushes

The Altima line has 2 screws on the hood (part where the knob is that says high carpet and low carpet) that you remove with a philips head screwdriver then you just lift the hood of the vacuum

Brush spins & then trips & quits

Sounds like a clog to me. Check that the roller brush cap fittings (caps at either end of the brush roll) don't have thread in them as well as checking that the dust channel from the sole plate is completely clear.

No sucking

Could be that the dust cup filter is clogged, part #60958, or the inlet down by the brush roll is clogged.
