Where are you getting your CPU from you cant just buy any CPU laptop cpu's are made for laptops only and a desktop CPU wont work in a laptop. also what is the FSB of you original cpu if its 400 or 533 it probably wont take a processor that need 800mhz fsb

Hello I was wondering what is the best cpu for this Laptop. All i have is a P4600 celeron, I cant find information about the motherboard from samsung. I presume the motherboard is a BA92-07852A.

I have chatted to a guy Dinoop P from Samsung support.
He could only confirm that max mem was 8GB. He said CPI couldn't be upgraded, but referred me to buy the Repair Manual from their outlet, which is also known ad J&J

CPU world says "
Q: Can I upgrade my Celeron P4600 microprocessor? A: Probably yes. Processor compatibility is determined by your motherboard. Please check CPU-Upgrade.com resource for CPU support list for your board."
on
Intel Celeron P4600 Mobile processor CP80617005307AB
and at the bottom of that page lists CPUs which physically fit into the motherboard, and are electrically compatible with the CPU socket. This does not mean they are compatible with the m/b (though it likely that some are). You might find a post in a forum somewhere )like the Samsung forum) describing a successfully upgraded CPU

Would like to upgrade cpu on my sony vaio vgn-fz285u notebook

The choices are limited, as the series of processors that can be inserted in a mother board is limited. The motherboard will have a socket specification that determines the CPU series that can be used.

AMD Turion 64x2 Processor Upgrade Problem

Yes it's the BIOS, which holds a list of supported CPUs (with the right min/max settings for Vcore, FSB, multiplier (or HyperTransport as it's called for AMD chips), etc.). When you put in a newer unrecognized CPU, it either runs at a failsafe (very slow) setting or won't boot at all.

The only solution is to flash a newer BIOS version which supports the CPU. I searched the Acer website and found the newest BIOS version 3315 (dated 2008-12, which is pretty new imho), which you can download (including the required flash software) here: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_3315.zip?acerid=633643256207419447&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire 5050&OS=V10&LC=nl&SC=EMEA_18

Perhaps you already have this BIOS version and I'm not sure wether your new CPU is supported by this BIOS, but you might give it a try.

Please note that flashing your BIOS might fail & brick the laptop and is at your own risk, but when following the instructions carefully, it's only a very small chance things go wrong. I've done it a dozen times without any problem ...

Want to upgrade CPU and Ram on ASUS A7V-ML motherboard

Download a small utility called CPUID from http://www.cpuid.com or use this direct download link "http://www.cpuid.com/download/hwmonitorpro/HWMonitorPro_106.zip". Using this utility you can analyze your system hardware statistics and also you can find the RAM capacity supported in your system along with various other RAM parameters. It will also show you the available free RAM slots to use, as well. I hope this is useful to you.

Overclock

I do not condone overclocking!

You can try upgrading your bios to the latest version. It may let you change the CPU settings.

Intel boards are usually "locked" (BIOS), and are difficult if not impossible to overclock.

I DO NOT CONDONE OVERCLOCKING. IT CAN RUIN,TRASH, BREAK FOREVER, MAKE CEASE TO FUNCTION, if something goes wrong, not yelling at you just want to make sure you know what you are trying toget into.
But...They do sell boards designed for that purpose, I think you can get the board you have w/CPU for under $100. Look for a different board if you are serious about it.

hello, i would install the cpu you wish to use, then see how it runs. and then do a bios update. this may work,if not the motherboard may not be compatible with the cpu upgrade, (propriatory equipment sometimes does not allow such upgrades) like hit or miss! i hope this info helps, and you get the dell to accept the faster cpu. good luck! glen

CPU Upgrade

You pulled the processor out of your laptop ... that was a brave move ... generally laptop boards are fully integrated so there is very few options on changing the processor ... also because of the extreme heating conditions the heat sink bonding is very critical ... make sure you replace this properly or you will have overheating issues in the future ...

Upgrade the processor on a Toshiba equium l40 series from a celron M

The core2 duo chips will be a different socket to your celeron cpu so can do that unfortunately. You may be able to upgrade to a faster cpu of the same socket type but will probably need a bios update for it to run at proper speed.

Unfortunately laptops arent really designed to be upgraded at all bar extra ram/hd/dvdrw.

Hope that helps?
