Re: BTR Cover open error
The first BTR(bias transfer roller transfers the image from the drum to the belt, the second BTR transfers the image from the belt to the paper if it is not working then you will have worse problems than smudging, the most likely cause of smudging would be the belt cartridge

Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer.
Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.
Pull out the drum unit assembly. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer. If you cannot remove the drum unit assembly easily at this time, do not use extra force. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper tray. To prevent damage to the printer caused by static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown below.
Open the back output tray. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit. If the paper jam can be cleared, go to Step 7. After you have just used the printer, some internal parts of the printer are extremely hot! Wait for the printer to cool down before you touch the internal parts of the printer.
Open the jam clear cover. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.
Close the jam clear cover. Close the back output tray.
Push the lock lever down and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit assembly. Take out the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.
If you do not find any jammed pages there, reinstall the tray and go around to the back of the machine. Open the upper-rear cover and look there.
If the entire paper path appears to be clear, close the rear cover and power off the printer. Reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover. Power the printer back on. If a 200 error continues on power up, a sensor in the printer may be malfunctioning. This will require a service call to correct the issue. Below is a description of how to complete clear paper jams paper can get jammed it there pretty tightly and in very small places. Ensure you've followed all the steps to clear your paper jam and you should see your printer start working again. Refer to your user guide (or download via the link provided at the bottom) for illustrations.
Open the front of the printer.
Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. Some
of the jammed paper will be pulled out with the drum unit and toner
Set the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a piece of disposable paper or cloth in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
To prevent damage to the printer caused by static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes inside the printer.
Close the front cover.
Note: Do not put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in at this point.

Pull the jammed paper down and out of the printer.
Open the back cover (back output tray).
Still looking at the back of the printer, pull the tab toward you to open the fuser cover.
Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.
After you have just used the printer, some internal parts of the printer

touch the internal parts of the printer.
Close the back cover (back output tray).
On the drum unit you set aside, push down the green lock lever and
take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper
if there is any inside the drum unit.
Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once.
To avoid print quality problems, DO NOT touch the roller part of the
toner. Try to keep you hands, fingers and everything else away from
Put the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until you hear it
lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the green lock
lever will lift automatically.
Open the front cover. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.
Thanks for using FixYa. Before you can clear the error message, you must locate where in the unit the paper is jammed.
Unplug the machine for safety. Now follow these instructions based on where the paper jam is located.
1.Pull the paper tray out of the machine.
2.Pull out the jammed paper.
3.Reset the machine by opening the Upper Jam Clear Cover and then closing it.
If you cannot remove the jammed paper from the front of the machine, or the error message still appears on the LCD after you have removed the jammed paper, please go to the next step.
4.Remove the Lower Jam Clear Cover from the back of the machine. Pull the jammed paper out of the machine.
5.Put the Lower Jam Clear Cover back on. Make sure the cover is set properly.
6.Open the Upper Jam Clear Cover. Make sure that there is no jammed paper left in the corners of the machine. Note: If the paper is jammed under the print head, unplug the machine from the power source, then move the print head to take out the paper.
7.Close the Upper Jam Clear Cover.
8.Close the output paper tray cover and slide it forward, then push the paper tray firmly back into the machine. While holding the paper tray in place, pull out the paper support until it clicks and unfold the paper support flap.

open the printer again.you didnot specify which kodak printer you have. take all papers out of paper tray .fan them properly to make sure that no two papers are sticking to each other.
load papers again in to the printer,contact kodak @1800 421 6699 if u face problem again.
the BTR cover is also called " Bias Transfer Roller " cover it should be that roller that seen when open the front cover most likely the Bias transfer roller door sensor in NOT detecting the dorr closed. make sure the tab isn't broken this will produce this error if it is.
Front cover is open Close the front cover of the printer. Fuser cover is open Close the fuser cover located behind the back cover of the printer. Paper jam Clear the paper jam. That means , second BTR is not in contact with transfer belt. Open front door and pull out paper transport and check that is everything OK with black roll and her assembly.Check sensors for dirt,and gears for damage.If You have used one ,replace it.
