Question about Linksys WRT160N Wireless Router

LinkSys Router WRT160N

Ok, I recently made the switch from D-Link to the Linksys Router b/c of the reviews it had on the web. From the first time I purchased one, I've been having trouble. I have 3 Laptops in my home that use the router and 1 Desktop(Wireless Connection too) and a PS3 that is hardwired to the actual router. After some trial and error I managed to completly shut off the internet to everybody(on the network of course). I had it setup with the WPA security and then one of the laptops couldn't do WPA for some reason, so I downgraded to WEP encryption. But now the problem is that everyone on the network can get the router to show itself on the wireless network however the laptops keep looking for an IP but can't access the network. If someone happens to know where I can find a step by step guide to configuring a wireless network, that would be awesome

Over here you can find all the manuals and firmware upgrades that you possibly ask for, just look under the "More Information"sign down on the right side of the screen.

I have recently had internet problems and now my laptop is unable to work off my router. My internet support help told me that the security key was changed. I don't know how that would have happened. How...

Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router’s IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].
Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank then enter your router’s password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.
If you forgot the router's password you need to reset the router.
Step 4: Click on Wireless--->Wireless Security to view the Security type and the Key.

Computer crashed had to wipe out and need to reinstall cannot find original installation disk are there any free download drivers available

You really shouldn't need an installation disk to install this router. here is a link to everything available from linksys. Review the user manual for any questions about the product. Also there are no drivers needed. Everything is either wired or wireless. To access the settings you just enter the appropriate IP into your browser. All of this can be found in the manual.

Modify settings on router

To change the settings of the router you will need to access the router set up interface.
When you change the settings on the router make sure that your computer will be connected to the router with the cable.
I hope the following link may guide to open the router set up.

Linksys WRT160N Connection Issues.

Sadly, this router has horrible reviews and is known for this problem:

Can you return it for another model?
Can you getLinksys to replace it?

the best one is the LINKSYS WRT54GL, but if you are stuck with the one you have...

If you have tried all these things and you are very brave (or don't care if you need to buy another router) why not try flashing it with an after market O/S?
