It should work as soon as it gets dark, try covering the light sensor with black tape, if it does'nt turn on it's a faulty timer.

sensor might be bad of not in proper position and getting hit with light which make it go out then they come back on when its dark and on and off and on and off .

My grow light is on a timer and was off last night when it was suppose to be on i played around with it and got it on, but once again as soon as it went off wont go back on... Maybe it is something to do...

check and make sure you have the timer right am/pm.also the mechanism that rotates the timer might also be bad or going bad.if the am/pm timing is set right i would try another one from your local home center and if it works its likely the timing mechanism.

How do i set a bog standard timer to control lights

Ok these work in 2 ways and get get a bit illogical.Say if you want to set the timer to come on from 6am and run till 11am.
You either push all the teeth inwards to the centre for that time, or you make sure they are out.
The usual is to push all the teeth inwards from 6-11am to put the light on.
