Question about Ryobi 12A 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw

1 Answer

Ryobi 10'' Miter saw Model 251U

The safety switch which must be manually engaged before the motor turns on is totally broken. I've jammed a screw in it to render it operational but of course that's unsafe. Where can I get a replacement? I live in Ottawa Canada.

The only way to turn the saw off is to unplug it. Ryobi 10 inch sliding compound miter saw model TSS100L

You may be able to take the handle apart and, using compressed air, blow any sawdust out of the handle and switch but most likely you'll have to replace the switch.

Replace switch on chop saw

unplug tool, remove the top of the handle assembly, either take a picture or write yourself a wiring schematic before removing anything, I would suggest taking a photo so you know where the safety device goes and the wiring, loosen the screws and remove and replace the switch.

Can the laser be adjusted on the ryobi 10" compound miter saw?

without having the specific model number and other info I would recommend calling them direct at 1-800-525-2579 for tech services but I would have to think that they would be adjustable, but before attempting get the manual for specific details on how to do that.

Slide mechanism jammed

Try squirting WD 40 all over the rails and into the bearings...Your bearings could have rusted in place and won't turn. Or maybe one is rusted and the other turns a bit...You could use a good pair of vice grips to remove that stripped screw.if that will give you better access..
I haven't ever seen one jammed up like that though...
Otherwise, you might look up the parts diagram and see what you're getting into there, if there's anything that could have broken off inside that's hanging here.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

I have a 10 inch ryobi miter saw, ts251u, the switch has gone out and I can not find were I might get another switch. It has a five wire circuit. black and white, hot and common, yellow, brown and black....

Bad news, the swich you need is part number 350001 and it is no longer available. Might I suggest that if you have a local repair center take the switch and see if they can match it up with another mfr. switch. Some of the Milwaukee mitre have switches like you describe. Sorry I couldn't give you the answer you needed.
