Question about Konica Minolta Maxxum QTsi with 35-80 lens 35mm Film Camera

Bad Minolta Maxxum lens?

I just recieved a Minolta Maxxum 3xi camera with a Minolta Maxxum AF 35-80mm f4 (22) - 5.6 lens. Battery checks good, camera powers up, but camera refused to take a picture. Oddly enough, camera flash fires and mirror moves when the above lens is removed (I discovered this accidentally). Have I isolated my 'nonworking' camera to the lens? Also of note - when i put the lens back on, the camera worked for 1 picture, then stopped taking pictures again. I don't have a second lens to test this with yet, but will soon.

Oddly enough, the camera and lens are working just fine now - or at least they appear to be. I'll shoot some more when I have good lighting and 1-hour them tomorrow for the results.

Broken battery door

No. Duct tape will hold the battery but it won't make contact. Without something connecting that end of the battery to the circuitry in the camera, you may as well leave it empty.

Have many lens for XG-A what other minolta bodies will they fit

The XG-A, like the other X-series cameras, uses the older Minolta SR lens mount. You're pretty much limited to the SR- and X-series cameras. They will NOT fit the newer Maxxum bodies, for example, which use the newer Minolta AF lens mount.

Changing ASA on minolta Maxxum 3xi

Not a feature of that model. It reads ASA from the film canister. You cannot manually set it on the 3xi.

The film wont advance

remove and reinsert battery.
be sure you pulled the film all the way across the back.
be sure the door latches.
be sure camera is on.
try the rewind button, it may think it has film in it, ready to rewind.
Still no good? film advance motor may be dead. If so, it needs repair. Lucky for you, the Maxxum 50 goes for cheap on Ebay. You can get another at a good price.

My minolta maxxium 50 works fine but is draining the batteries after a few minutes, what could be making this happen?

What battery does it use? The problem could be your rechargeable battery is dying. If it is the case you need to replace your battery.

I have a Minolta Maxxum 450si with several lens. What Digital camera would these lens work on. John

My best assumption would be Sony DSLRs since Konica/Minolta's camera division was acquired by Sony. I believe Sony is using Konica/Minolta lens mount for their DSLR line.

It could be a problem of bad conductivity. Try cleaning contacts with spray oxide remover.
