Question about Ricoh 3310LE Plain Paper Laser Fax

Communication Problem Ricoh 3810 - states "communication problem" when receiving faxes from Buffalo and even one here in Memphis. The repair person stated it was a "carrier" problem. We found an old Brother fax and hooked it up and it communciates just fine with everyone. Can you tell me what the problem is with the Ricoh. Thanks.

Ricoh's are the ONLY fax machines that i've seen having bad modems. It's possible that it is bad.

Whenever i send a fax, the machine confirms by viewing 'TRANSMITTING OK' but the addressee receives a blank document

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting.

It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty.

To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly.

It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.

We are unable to send or receive faxes from specific vendors. Why will faxes go through for one person but then give us a "communication error" for others?

Speed all about speed and noise on the line, on some of my accounts I "de-tune" my unit to communicate with the "problem" units and sometimes I will turn the ECM off. -Carl

Error codes 283 and 232 in received Faxes

basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines
Following these steps may help resolving your issue

1. Make sure that the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a wall-jack symbol.
2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax.
3. Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines, and retry the fax communication.
4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
5.Try using a different telephone cord.
6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.

Disabling Auto-Print of Communication Result Report

It's in the "user parameters" in the "fax features" menu. No disrespect, but it's a needlessly complicated setting (all of the parameter settings are if you aren't familiar with Ricoh).

i believe it means rx receive and tx transmitt

in rs 232 communication (serial communication modem fax etc) line 2 is tx (transmitt and 3 is receive rx hope that helps

try this make sure that receive reduction is switched on. You could load the paper tray up and just let it print as may have been a communication problem from RTI memory. Being Richo machine you should be able to reset the memory but this will get rid of all your stored numbers. But it will reset the machine so if you have a corrupted memory issue this will get rid of it.
