Professional Sew-Ware 1.0 and 1.10

I have installed Professional Sew Ware 1.0 and 1.10 on my computer exactly the way the manual states. When trying to access the program I get the message "Application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000005. Click on OK to terminate the application." What is wrong and what do I need to do to fix this in order to begin working and learning this program?

I too am having PSW 1.1 problems and tried the "COMPATABILITY MODE" solution and it did not work. 1.0 works but not when 1.1 is installed.

The problem is either compatibility; try right clicking on the icon and selecting Properties and then Compatibility tab. Click on run this program in compatibility mode for: and try the different options. by selecting, clicking ok and trying to run the program and if it does not work then select the next one. Or it could be a failed install either your ant virus picked up something and corrupted the install or the computer must have been running a lot of programs at the same time. These kinds of problems are usually solved by switching off any constantly running programs such as antiques, firewalls etc until the program has been installed and then enabling them when installed.

Susanne... I suspect this has been resolved by now since it's been over a year ago. I experienced the same problem and resolved it by following instructions from Singer's website ...see under FAQ's ...Why is my USB to Serial Converter Cable Not Working? I didn't know if this was the issue; followed the instructions by changing the port, etc.; after doing this, I was able to load the software. In addition, when I reached the PSW set up screen and it mentioned initializing, I bypassed it..didn't click on OK and hit Next....all went okay.

My new computer doesn't have a CD drive and it has Windows 8. :( How can I download sew ware and is it even compatible? The computer that it is on now is ancient and about to die :(

Most new PCs don't have one but you can add one for cheap. Look for a USB 2.0 External CD-ROM, portable for laptop on Amazon. Bestbuy should have them as well.

Singer.com's FAQs provide the following:

Q. My computer only has USB ports. Can you recommend a Serial (nine pin) to USB converter cable that will work with the Professional Sew Ware™ 2.00a? A. We have found that the PSW works best on newer computers when the USB serial adapter cable has not only compatible drivers for the Windows operating system but also a FTDI chip. We have found this FTDI chip in the cable which is listed below:
CUSB-232A available from Computerplug.com and Cablesalesusa.com.
Any USB to serial adapter with an FTDI chip will work. These cables will work for Windows XP, VISTA, and 7.

Sew-ware does not come with the sewing machine. You just have the conversion tool. Professional Sew-ware 2.00 converter box is sold optional. Do a google search and you will see what I am talking about. Your sewing machine reads from a smart card that comes with the PSW 2.00 converter box. There is a cable that can connect your machine directly to your computer...Terrie

I bought a XL6000 from a friend and it came with Sew-Ware Conversion Tool software. I'm trying to load onto my laptop which has Windows Vista. I can't get it to come up. Do I have old software?

To either transfer/transmit from a computer to the XL6000 or for the XL6000 to recognize/read a design card: The Embroidery attachment must be attached/installed on the XL6000.
