Question about Gateway MS-6389 Ver.1 S462 Motherboard (4000758)

1 Answer

Reattach Power LED, Power SW, and HDD LED leads

I have a Gateway Computer and I hastily disconnected all three leads from the Intel motherboard and now I need instructions on the correct order for reattachment. The plug number is J9G1 on the motherboard with pins 1-9 available and pin 10 unavailable. Each component has a triangle indicator on the female plug end lining up with a colored wire: Power LED has blue, Power SW has black and HDD LED has red. Please give me the correct reattachment sequence for each component and the corresponding pin number. Thanks!

Their should be a 9 pin header at the bottom right corner of the board. Between the sata headers and the corner. There are two rows of pins in the header, one row has 5 and the other 4. The row with 4 pins has the power switch and the power led pins : : : : . They should be color coded red for the switch and green for the power led. From left to right the first pin is for the led (+) lead, the second pin is for the led(-) lead, the third pin and fourth pin are for the power switch. Also there is a 2 pin header above the 9 pin header that is an alternate power led header, the left pin is (+) and the right is (-). I hope this helps you.

Number codes for giving connections to HDD led,Power led, Reset SW & Power SW to motherboard

Those are really tricky and always vary from motherboard to motherboard.
without the exact model no one will be able to tell you exactly. But I'd recommend that you start out with the power (pw) plug and try trial and error. The only ones really necessary are the pw and reset. the only 2 that are polarity sensitive are the HDD light and pw led.

KM18G pro motherboard power connection, reset sw, power sw, etc.

Hi.

You can download the manual for your motherboard here.

Inside you will find information of where does each connector go. Each connector on the case has a marking on it (HDD, PWR, RST or similar) which stands for hard disk LED, power button, reset button and so on. Connect it to the right place, and problem is solved.

If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask.
