How do i record from a vcr tape to a dvd on a sansui dual deck vcr dvd recorder?

If it is a combination VCR/DVD player, they usually can't do it.If you get a separate VCR player from a friend or neighbor, you can connect the VCR output to a cable box input, cable box output into DVD input,or if the DVD recorder has a digital tuner you can plug the VCR output player straight into the input of the DVD recorder.DVD recorders REQUIRE some form of digital input. That is why you need to route a VCR player through a cable box or the DVD recorder needs a digital tuner. If you are not sure if your recorder has a digital tuner, call sansui, they will know.I tried to find Sansui home and I found everything BUT DVD/VCR.If you have a manual it will be in there,or it may have a phone number on a label(back or bottom probably)of the unit.Good luck!Greg If you want to send me your model number,I will research it further too.It is up to you.

I have an older TV with only an antenna hook-up, a VCR, a DVD recorder and a converter box that I would like to hook all together. I can get the VCR to work, but don't really know how to hook the DVD...

Try this. You will need 2 RF cables and a RCA cable that has a red, black, and yellow plug on each end.
  1. Plug the antenna signal into the converter box.
  2. Connect the RF output (TV out) of the converter box to the RF input on the VCR
  3. Connect the RF output (TV out) on the VCR to the TV
  4. Finally, plug the DVD recorder into the converter box also, but use the 3 RCA cables that came with it (audio left, right and video).

Can get dvd/vcr to work but vcr won't record

first did you program the vcr to match your cable channels ...that needs to be done on most vcrs/dvd/ combos and second if you have a cable box on your tv you still need to run a coax cable from the cable box to the in of the dvd player and out of the dvd player to the tv.

Electronic ILLITERATE!!! - nothing recorded from cable tv channel

okay, if you have a cable box (cable out plug to dvd/vcr in), then from the dvd/vcr (cable out plug to tv/monitor). make sure tv/monitor and dvd/vcr are set to ch #3. you swith channels with the cable box ,you are not going to be able to record HBO on dvd (but you can with the vcr), any other cable ch(tnt, history, tbs,we, oxygen and more) is recordable w/ both dvd/vcr

no cable box. take cable wire plug to dvd/vcr in, than other wire is connected to tv/monitor
now go to dvd/vcr with remote, menu, set to catv, scan channels. now when you wish to look at tv the dvd/vcr must be on at all times. again you will not be able to record Premium ch like HBO
hope this help............pls feel free to rate

Magnavox DV220MW won't record.

You need to plug a red, white, and yellow cord from the red, white, and yellow OUT of your cable or satellite box into the red, white, and yellow labelled VCR IN/LINE 1 on the Philips. To view what you are trying to record, make sure there is another red, white, and yellow cable plugged from the DVD/VCR OUT of the Philips to your television. Make sure the television is on the appropriate source channel (AUX 1, AUX 2, VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, etc). Then press the VCR button on the Philips. You should now see your cable or sat channel (as long as it's not an HD Satellite box) on the television screen. Press record, and you are on your way. Good luck!

Cable box, digital service, channels not appearing

connect the RF lead from the wall to your cable box then out from that to your dvd then out from your dvd to your tv. now connect a scart lead from the cable box to AV 2 on the DVD then connect AV 1 on the DVD to your TV if you have a second scart on your tv connect that to the cable box. NOW on the DVD select AV2 now whatever is on the cable box will be recorded onto DVD/VCR. Put the DVD recorder into VCR mode and set it to auto tune all the Digital Video Broadcasts. You cannot physically tune the cable boxes own channels into the DVD via RF it has to be via a scart.

Need directions to install a dch70 box to tv

dear woolifer ,
I am not an expert but i hope i can help you..
is it youmean digital cablebox?
if it is try this-

This is a problem a lot of people have with coaxial-only televisions because DVD players do not have coaxial (RF) outputs, which means they can't be connected directly into a television with only a coaxial (RF) input. The solution is to purchase a RF modulator, which is a small device that will convert the AV output from the DVD player to coaxial (RF).
As for the instructions, I am going to assume the DVD player is not a combo unit with the VCR, and that you want to record TV on your VCR. Step 4 will include connecting your DVD player, but if the DVD player is a combo unit with the VCR, just ignore step 4 part as DVD connection will be included in the VCR set up. Actually, you wouldn't need the RF modulator if it is a VCD/DVD combo unit.
  1. Connect the coaxial cable coming out from the wall to your digital cable box in the ‘video in’ slot. It might also be labeled ‘antenna in’ or ‘cable in’.
  2. From the cable box, connect a coaxial or composite (yellow video cable) and stereo (red-white) RCA audio cables to the VIDEO IN terminal on your VCR.
  3. From the VCR, you will have to connect this to the RF Modulator using a coaxial cable from the VIDEO OUT on the VCR to one of the IN ports on your RF modulator.
  4. You can now connect your DVD player to the RF Modulator by using the yellow-red-white composite/RCA cables from the VIDEO OUT on the DVD player to another port on the RF modulator.
  5. From the RF modulator, connect this unit to your TV by using a coaxial cable. It will be from the VIDEO OUT on the RF modulator to the VIDEO IN or CABLE or ANTENNA IN port on your television.
This should be all you need to get started watching your digital television. In simple terms here is what you did:
Coaxial from wall to cable box
Cable box to VCR
VCR to RF modulator
DVD player to RF Modulator
RF modulator to TV
You will only be able to record what is on channel
