Question about LG Shine KE970 Cellular Phone
I dropped my phone in a snowbank this morning outside my office. Once inside I wiped it off with a cloth as there were a few drops of water on it.
When I went home at lunch I realised I had a missed call, but none of the buttons on my phone were working. The display shows when someone calls, and the power button works, but that's all.
Currently it's open and upside down and the battery is out....anyhting else i can do? Is it going to get better?
This may sound crazy, but it has worked for every phone me or my friends have had water damage to.
Take the phone apart as far as you can go (like take off the silver plate backing and take out the battery, and simcard) and place it on a dry rag and put it in the oven. Then heat the oven to its lowest setting. My oven can go as low as 175 degrees, so what I did was to open the top a little bit to let the heat out. Believe it or not, this heat shouldn't ruin the phone, but only dry up the water that is blocking the circuits. Be very careful though. The ideal temperature is about 125 degrees.
Considering water boils at 212 degrees, it SHOULD take more heat than than to actually damage your phone. Leave it in the oven, turned off, for 24 hours or longer. Give it some time... be patient. Then try turning it back on. It has worked for me and my friends, as of now we are 5/5.

I inadvertently washed mine (with a 15 min. soak cycle) and then it actually went into the dryer (accidentally) for 15 min. I thought there was no hope at all when I saw the moisture inside the screen and everywhere else, but I followed the advice to remove the battery and bury the phone in a bowl of dry rice for 24 hrs. Although the old battery does not work at all anymore, the phone works with a new battery and the screen looks dry inside. Frankly, I'm amazed.
