Vcr and vcr/dvd combo to cable tv hookup.

I have cable tv, 1 vcr and 1 vcr/dvd combo. Want to hook up all so that they work. But here's my problem: I want to be able to tape vhs tapes from one vcr to the other vcr. How do i do this? Nothing I've tried works, I used to have this ability but had to unplug to set up new entertainment shelving and couldn't figure it out afterwords. Help. Somebody i'm ready to chuck all this stuff out the window.

IF your vcr/dvd combo have 2 INPUT ports:
connect the cable TV & the vcr's a/v jacks (yellow for video rest is for audio) to it.

otherwise provide additional detail about the input and output ports of both vcr's

Hook #1 VCR Video-Audio out wires to #2 VCR-DVD combo Video-Audio input, Hook #2 VCR-DVD combo Video-Audio output wires with TV, select proper A-V input of TV and now you can record in #2 VCR-DVD combo from #1VCR and also can watch it on TV.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, suggestion would be the simplest. Wire the system as follows:

  • cable TV to VCR/DVD combo to TV;
  • the VCR would be the recorder from VCR/DVD;
  • cable TV either use RF OUT or Audio/Video RCA connectors to the VCR/DVD. This would enable you to record TV programs;
  • the output of the VCR/DVD RF OUT should go to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the TV;
  • the audio/video OUT (yellow, red & white) of the VCR/DVD should go audio/video IN (yellow, red & white) of the VCR to enable you to record VHS.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa

If the cable box needs to be set to 4, the TV will need to be set to 4 as well as the dvd player. The hookup should be cable box to dvd player to the TV for your system to work. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

I have a DVD1001 DVD VCR combo how do I hook DVD combo to my tv

Use output of combo player to input of TV. Use what ever available input you have left on you TV. HDMI or Component input is best, but others will work.

I have sound but no picture. The screen is black

can you see any any menus or the volume bar or channel indicator?
Make sure all your audio and video cables are hooked up correctly to inputs on the TV and to the same set of hookups. For example all of the VCR cables hooked into video 1 and all of the DVD cables in video 2.
Also check that you haven't hooked up the video to the tv's output. Some sets output audio and/or video for external devices such as recording setups or home theater sound systems.

Hook up tv/dvd

All you need is A/V cable. These are yellow, white, and red. If you have an old model TV that doesn't have these, you can get an RF modulator from any electronics store, which will enable you to connect the DVD/VCR combo.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

Cannot connect a VCR/DVD player to Zenith SY1959Y

you don't need a code for the vcr/dvd combo to work on your tv. You need to make sure you have hooked up the cables correctly. remember that the dvd can be hooked up with the component cabels and the vhs may need to be hooked up thru the tv cable hookup.

Toshiba Model: SD-V295 DVD/VCR Combo Setup for TV recording

The proper hookup is antenna or cable into the VCR RF/antenna input, then VCR RF/antenna output to the TV RF input. The hookup you describe means no signal is getting to the VCR.

With some TVs, there can be Video and audio output jacks which can be hooked to the video and audio jacks of the VCR. However this would likely mean you could only record the channel being watched, and, the TV would have to be on.

Dvd/vcr with ** hookup for cable tv

Just hook your antenna or whatever wire you have currently connected to the TV to the input on the new recorder, and you'll be to record anything you can watch now.

Dvd/vcr without cable hook-up

If ** cable TV hookups exists, then the only inputs you can use are the line-in along with audio left/right. You've probably got a slew of output connections. Your unit does **t contain a tuner (which would allow you to use a cable input). You need to have a cable box or other device (vcr/tv) that has outputs compatible with the input of your dvd/vcr. A lot of dvd/vcrs are that way. It actually saves you some $$ since most cable boxes (especially HDTV compatible) already have the required outputs on them.
