Broken Handle on Jenn-Air Model M406 Under Cabninet Microwave
We just broke the plastic handle off the door of our built-in microwave oven. The microwave is an Jenn-Air M406 under cabinet model. We would like to find a replacement handle and instructions of how to get to the mounting screws which are located inside the door.

If the point of damage can be glued together with good bonding and further re-enforcement , it can be strong to withstand pressure. So remove the assembly to try this out before you think there is no way out but to replace with the handle assembly from the service center. The other option is to get one from a scrapped set.
we have the same tappan oven/microwave combination. We are looking for the knobs for this. Its a great oven, but we need these parts. Our microwave handle broke a long time ago and we had one made from wood. If you are going to ditch the old oven would you be willing to sell the knobs?
The door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:

I have the same problem- funny when we built we went all Maytag and got a bunch of lousy handles- the stove, micro, fridge, and freezer... I glued the pieces of the handle together and used plumber's putty to fix it. It's MightyPutty, but without the repackaging and cost. Just knead the putty until mixed, fill the cavity of the handle and press on the door where it was... No problem after six months so far.
The model M437 is not listed, but the M438 is, and it should be similar enough to guide you. Just don't count on the part numbers being the same.
Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove. We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
