I am having the same exact problem and have only had my mouse for 3 weeks. it is very fustrating and hope there is something out there that can fix it. i too have tried to plug it into a few different usb ports and still the same problem!!!

I have the same problem, my MicrosoftARC.
In fact, I was unlucky...twice! I had two problems:
    1. The scroll wheel doesn't work, but (strange!), left click and right click working correctly. Moreover, I noticed that the scroll wheel WORKING ONLY NEAR notebook keyboard, even ONLY OVER THIS, above the USB port - WHERE IS INTRODUCED the tranceiver!

Thank those who posted the solution on www.fixya.com, because they have solved the problem: scroll wheel worked perfectly, left click and right click working correctly!!!
I found the solution here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t1700537-sc...

    But, still not working...
Unfortunately, my MicrosoftARC...everything can not be used, because cursor is frozen!

    2. Second problem: After I studied long as we have seen moves only cursor does not move than on a metal surface!!! Not moving on plastic, wood, nothing else than on the shiny metal! (in fact, on aluminum foil for kitchen :P)

    Why only shiny metal???

Is, somehow, a problem of reflection of laser emission?
    The optical sensor are defective?
That piece should be replaced, unglue or something?

    Thanks in advance,

    nicO273

The perfromance laser on the bottom will not work after having this mouse for only 4 weeks. The curser will not move either.
I've put in new batteries, used may different ports, tried to use it on other computers and I still have the same problem. I can't return it because it was a gift from my son and he had already thrown out the receipt. What can I do in order to be able to use my mouse again and to bring peace back into my home?
We are all going crazy tring to figure this out. I haven't found how to solve it on any websites, not even on the Logitech sites.

i have has a Logitech LX8 mouse for nearly a year and it worked fine. USB reciver was damaged no where near the mouse, got it replaced and suddenly the mouse doesn't work at ALL. the cursor just sits there can't click anything, vista says its installed andready to use. I have tried many ports, done a system restore. I don't want to have to buy another mouse!

I have just bought 2 x new computers from Currys. Both machines were supplied with wireles mouse and keyboard. The keyboards are GR-85 and the mice are both G7-630N. I pluged the USB dongle into the USB port and its flashing away and I switched on the mouse (no switch visible on the keyboard). The mouse is lit, but nothing works. I plugged a spare usb keyboard and mouse into the computer and removed the hardware and re-installed. The device picked up uses a HID-Compliant mouse driver (Microsoft?) still not working. I tried pluging the dongle into every other USB port and did the same again, remove and re-add in hardware. I even downloaded the 16 in 1 and the 18 in 1 drivers from the A4Tech website, but they do nothing. This is happening on both machines. Help.

I had a similar problem: brand new arc mouse. Used it with the supplied batteries which ran out of juice yesterday. Put new batteries in this morning and the cursor wouldn't move at all. Tried every port, other computers etc but nothing. The tranceiver was connecting fine and being detected. The mouse was showing the green light as it should when you unfold it.
In the end i uninstalled intelipoint and was about to take the mouse back to the shop where i bought it. I gave it one more try and it worked!
So to cut a long story short - just try uninstalling the microsoft mouse software. Hope that works for some of you

Does this mouse need a pad?

Almost all optical mice need some sort of padding. When you use an uneven surface or something with multiple colors, the optical sensors mistrack and you will note your mouse (curser) will bounce around the screen. An evenly colored mat works well.

Batteries ran down in the optical mouse. I put in new batteries and now I can't get the mouse to work. it's frozen

Remove the battery off and keep aside from within the mouse. Now disconnect the USB - optical detector to the PC. Shut down the PC . Replace battery once again and power the PC, then connect the USB to see if the mouse is detected.
If not remove off installed software of the optical device and reinsert once again so that it gets detected.

Hi. My Belkin Mini-Wireless Optical Mouse has stopped working. The batteries are fresh but no curser working - any ideas? Rgds

Please connect the mouse to another computer to rule out if the device has failed. If it works on another system you may be dealing with a messed up driver. Please comment this posted on your test results to receive the best answer.
