Exactly the same. Have tried the hard reset using top button and front one for >8 seconds. Have lateset version of iTunes, etc. Tried Restore several times and it hangs as described each time. Tried different USB ports and even different computers with firewal and AV off. Worked fine until I tried the update to 8.02.

Having exactly the same issue. Please, someone help!!

  • Anonymous Dec 09, 2008

Exact same problem where my itouch cannot be restored after updating to 8.02. Only difference is during restore when "restoring software" message in itunes displayed, I eventually get an unknown error occurred (14). I have tried all the tips and tricks on apple site (use different admin login ID, try another computer, etc... etc...). In addition, have tried several tips and tricks from web forums but nothing resolves the problem.

I bought it from ebay and it is locked

You are going to need a computer with the latest version of iTunes on it
So with the device plugged into your PC, iTunes open, if it shows up in iTunes eject it, or cancel the prompt to restore a device in recovery mode.

Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds

Without releasing the power button, also hold the Home button for 10 seconds

Without releasing the home button, release the power button and keep holding the Home button for About 20 seconds.

iTunes will detect an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode, let off button and set down device and hit RESTORE in iTunes.

My itouch says connect to itunes but it wont let me

You will want to reset the ipod and reconnect it to your computer. Below I have posted step by steps on three trouble shooting options. If after a reset it still will not connect to the computer, proceed to step two. Putting the iPod into recovery mode. Then if in recovery mode you can get it to connect to the computer, restore it to factory settings. Restoring it is listed as step three. I left the restore article normal in case you can get it to connect with just a simple reset.

1st reset

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

2nd RECOVERY MODE
Connect your USB cable to the computer without the iPod connected at the other end.

Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.

Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on.
Continue holding the Home button while iPod starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPod and repeat steps 3-6.
Because you must restore the iPod touch, iTunes will not recover data from the device, but if it was previously synced on the same computer and the same user account, it should restore a backup (if available)

RESTORE Use the following steps to restore your iPod touch:
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and running before attempting to update. Connect your iPod touch to your computer. Select your iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices. Select the Summary tab. Select the Restore option. When prompted to back up your iPod touch's settings before restoring, select the Back Up option. If have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you
Once the restore process has completed the iPod touch restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up

If none of this works and your iPod is still under a year old I would call apple. Make sure that you inform them of the trouble shooting you have already done though. They can tend to assume people don't do trouble shooting. GOOD LUCK

ITouch stuck and unrecognizable

Sounds like a long shot but it's the only solution I've been able to track down for the oxe8000035 error - try a different iPod USB cable.

Otherwise, it's a trip to the Apple store.

Good luck.

Itouch unlock password

if you do not know your passcode then make sure it is plugged in 2 the cp and make sure the itouch is on the screen where it says enter passcode. then you hold the power and home button at the same time until the itouch completely turns off and then you keep on holding both buttons until the apple logo again. and after that appears, you let go of the power button but you keep holding the home button until the itouch says its connected to itunes. and then you are allowed to access it on itunes. then you need to restore it and it will restore ur hole ipod and there will not be a passcode anymore
