Question about Indesit Washing Machines

1 Answer

I Have an indesit WG 1185 B - WG 1185 - W and a piece of wire has got under the rubber seal and in under the drum. You can hear it scraping along the drum when in use and after using it a couple of times since, it's obviously causing damage. I know i need to remove the seal but i've tried and tried and it wont budge. There's nothing in the manual and just wondered if anyone knows how i can fix this???

The easiest way to remove objects from between the drums is to remove the heating element. To do this remove the backplate from the machine. the element is located on the back of the drum and is rectangular shape with curved corners and will be secured by a single nut in the centre. To remove it unscrew the nut and pull the element out, usually the wire will be wrapped around the element, be careful not to damage the rubber seal and make sure the machine is unplugged before attempting. if you need any more help please let me know.

Thanks,

Can I safely use my washer if I hear something metal scraping during spin cycle?

You can, but I wouldn't. The outer skin of the drum is made of plastic. If it is a coin, it could dislodge, get caught again in mid spin and punch a hole straight through the plastic.

Get a flashlight and look between the seal and the outer drum when you open the door.

Felt seal came loose now drum scrapes

You've got to replace the seal. These are fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. If you unplug the dryer and lie it on either side, you then remove the face panel including the two dooorswitch wires (don't worry about the order of the wires, they are reversable) Then remove the panel and you'll see that the rest is self explanatory. Thank you, Dana

Large rubber door seal came apart

Yes it can be put back on without taking the drum apart. The larger end goes on the drum side. Fit larger end around drum lip make sure it seals all the way around, install spring around seal. Smaller end goes around door opening. Install seal around outter lip and install spring around seal.

Indesit wil 103 heater element

no need to take drum out. heater is held by one 10mm nut in the middle of the heater. when tightened, this nut compresses the rubber seal and holds heater in place. loosen the nut. the heater will probably be too tight to remove by hand so carefully use a screwdriver to lever it out
