Question about RCA RS2620 CD Shelf System

Open Question

RCA RS2620 ... no sound to speakers....

But sound through the headphones.

I don't see any traces burnt, I see no physical damage to any components. Do you have a schematic or something I can check?

This has been a good unit, hate to chunk it in the trash.

Can email a schematic to evil12volt@hotmail.com

SOURCE: Sound Won't play

We had the same problem with our last rca stereo. I don't remember what model it was. My husband took it apart and found that there was and area on the circuit board that was fried. I don't know of any other solution then the one we chose. Trash it. I'm not expert but I would imagine that you could by a new stereo for the price of replacing that circuit board. Just don't buy an rca. They are junk. Our new rca just quit playing cds.

How do I fix the stereo amplifier speaker channels so that both speakers work.

First things first. Check the speaker connections and wire to be certain it is all good. Because if it is not then even when you get the missing channel going it will blow if the cables are faulty.
Next try a pair of headphones. If you can hear sound in both channels there is nothing wrong with the power amp. Instead it is the headphone socket, which is switching the channel off. You should replace the headphone socket if it is.
If the channel is still missing, then you must pull out the plug and look inside the unit. Either follow the missing channel back from the speaker socket or go straight to the heat sink. Look for damaged or burnt components. Remember the good channel's components are the same as the bad one. So compare the two. With the good channel as a guide to what they should look like.

Where is the aux jack for the RCA RS 2620 bookshelf stereo?

The Aux audio L/R input jacks are below the On/Off button on the left side of the front of the stereo's main unit. The headphone jack is just below the input jacks. You will probably need an adapter to split the stereo output from the Blackberry (probably a 3.5 mm stereo jack) to the L/R jacks.

Radio Shack has the manual for the RCA RS2620 here: http://support.radioshack.com/support_audio/doc72/72312.pdf .

I hope this helps.

The picture is fine but the sound is not working. I push the volume and you can see where the volume level is going up. Have tried turning it off and unplugging it to try to reset it but nothing has...

Hello
Picture being Ok, and no sound output, means there is some problem inside the sound output circuit of your TV. It may be due to a speaker fault or an IC fault. You have to find out which of these has fault.
You just place your ear very close to the speaker side, and switch on your TV with its AC mains On-Off switch, not by remote control handset. Listen carefully, whether there is any sound output of any form comes out of it or not. If there is no sound at all you can determine that the speaker may be out, not in all cases. If you have the habit of listening your TVs audio by using a headphone, continious in-out action could damage your TVs headphone socket. If the headphone sockets' contact got damaged, no sound output will come from it to the speakers. Suppose you can hear the sound through your headphones but not throuhg speaker, means that its change over contact has some trouble. You just do this first. Insert a headphone pin into your TVs headphone socket, if provided, al listen to it for sound. If there is no sound from headphone also, Sound output Ic iside your TV has damaged, or not getting proper voltage to it. If there is sound through the headphone, and not from TVs speaker, trouble is related either speaker or the above said socket.
If all the above has no effect, that is no sound either from headphone, of from the speaker, you should go into the circuit board of your tv to get the fault.
Open your TVs back cover, and trace for the sound output section. There will be an Ic used as sound output. Check whether it getting heated some time after switch on the TV. If it overheats without any sound output, it is damaged Desolder it out from the circuit board, go for a same type and number, replacing it will solve the problem. If it doesn't overheat, or no heat at all, check its input voltage. In some cases, loose soldering points on the legs of Ic may also the cause. Check it too. Ok.
If you need any more clarification, ask me through Fixya. Give
a brief explanation about what you have done so far also.

UNIT HAS ALL POWER FUNCTIONS BUT OUTPUTS NO SOUND. ANY SUGGESTIONS. HAVE CHECKED THE SPEAKERS HOOKED TO ANOTHER UNIT SO I KNOW SPEAKERS ARE OK. MY SON IS BRAIN DAMAGED AND NEEDS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO LISTEN...

This comes to mind:
Did you perhaps connect the rca jacks to the record in instead of the play out?
Maybe the rca cable is not plugged in at all on either the receiver end or tape deck end.
Have you tried using a different rca cable?
Did you select the right input on the receiver?
You may try using a different input on the receiver.

I know these sound obvious, but they may fix the problem.

Left headphone speaker and left speaker both are not working.

Probably, unless there is another setting that you have missed. Have you loaded the correct drivers for the sound card?

Audio from tv is not restored by turning off power on headphones

It sounds as if you are plugging the base into a standard headphone jack located on the Television set.

RCA Headphone jacks (incl mini) automatically stop the sound output to the main speakers on almost every set I have seen.. or home stereo.. etc etc

In other words you can take a standard RCA jack.. with nothing connected to it.. plug it in while the music or sound is coming out the main speaker.. and it will cut off the output to those speakers..

If you set has audio outputs on the back.. preferably Fixed Audio Out .. you will need to connect your base unit to those.. turn your set volume to 0 and adjust the headset volume using the control on the right ear-cup.

If you have variable audio out.. you will need to go into your TV sets setup menu.. turn off the speaker.. and turn up the set until you achieve a signal and decent volume through the headset.

If you are missing these connections.. your current “work around” is your only solution.

Best of luck
