Bosch Nexxt series washing machine front gasket mold

Our front loading washer has a terrible mold issue in the front gasket. The water doesn't drain completely from the gasket area (the holes are roughly 3/4" above the bottom of the inside front of the gasket) and after each wash I wipe dry the remaining water. I cannot even close the door between washings, it must be left ajar. We were away for a week and my husband had closed the door...needless to say the gasket was covered in mold! Disgusting! I even have to wipe it down with bleach periodically and that does not even remove all the mold. I have read on another website other individuals with this problem, but no remedy. Have had the techs from the installer out and they do not know what to do to solve this. ongoing problem for 2 years and I am sick of it. Please help. Have spoken to Bosch reps who say they have not heard of this problem, just referenced me to another repair company.

I have this same problem with my washer, I also wipe with bleach...everthing you are doing and still have the mold!

Same problem here. Mine is growing mold in between the glass. I bought it 13 months ago.

We have the same problem with terrible mold. The water never drains properly because the holes are too high up. It's impossible to clean the plastic. Also, the legs broke the instant we pushed it into place, and Sears informed me that this is not covered by warranty! We tried our best to level it, but the washer vibrates the whole house.

I have the exact same problem and called Bosch and had absolutely no help from them. They say it is a cosmetic issue and it is not covered under warranty. It is a shame that Bosch does not stand by their product. The only solution I have found is to replace the gasket.

Same problem with the mold. Will Bosch correct this or should we start a civil law suite?

same problem. nothing I can do to get rid of it

  • dovenfla Apr 11, 2009

I can't believe I bought top of the line and the thing is full of mold !! I just want to get rid of it I am so frustrated with bleaching it once a week! Never again Bosch for us!

  • joewasher Apr 17, 2009

I have the same problem. We have solved the mold issue by running a hot/temp boost cycle with 8 oz bleach once a week. We follow this with a warm cycle with cleaning rags in case any bleach is left over. We also leave the door open when possible.
Called Bosch today and they said that there is no replacement gasket ( I heard rumor of a gasket with drain holes on the bottom). Michelle also said that the new bosch washer gaskets are the same.
So, we are stuck with a loud, vibrating moldy washer which has to be run with and ultrahot empty bleach load once a week. Wow, I love this new "Eco Friendly" efficiency! Go Green!
All we can do is be sure to tell 20 friends to avoid the Bosch brand!

I've had the same problem with my washer since I've had it! Bosch tells me that they aren't aware of the problem.... obviously untrue. What about forcing a recall? We all paid too much for the thing to put up with this!

I have the same problem, will report it, likely to no avail.

Hi.
The quickest way to solve your problem is to fit a new door seal.
Then each time you finish a wash, clean and dry the door seal.
At least once a week, depending on how often you wash, do a hot wash with powder, but no clothes in.
This is called a maintenance wash.
This should solve your problem.
The door seal probably got into its present condition because of several different reasons, namely:washing at too low a temperature-not using sufficient powder- amongst other things.
the mould is actually living bacteria, not a pleasant thought
Please positive feed back if you find this helpful
Cheers and good luck

Also consider leaving door the open after each use. The reason so the unit can air out. What they did'nt tell customers is when the door is close. there is no air circulation, therefore water and trap air produce odor and meldew.

You think you have a problem? I bought this top of the line set in 2008 before moving to Belgium. My husband worked and worked to get it set up here. He even had to change some of the electrical in the way it is plugged in to a transformer etc. You would think that our problem but no, our problem is mold! Just like everyone has said. It is horrible! What has been done about it by Bosch?

I believe if you can get to it, put the hose end lower than your tub and it should drain. My front loader quit pumping and it was two quarters stuck in the pump.

How do I eliminate mildew from Bosch front loader washing machine? I've tried all standard remedies. I leave the door ajar after each wash load.

There is a product specifically for this issue, called washing machine cleaner. It is different from laundry detergent. You need to run the cleaner through monthly, and your issue should resolve.
Newer machines allow client to drain the water, attempting to address this issue, but I think the cleaner is required, or you do not get the mildew smell resolved.

Bosch 100 series will not drain

You need to check and clean the pump filter if you have not already done so.
This is located at the bottom front right of washer.
Unscrew anti-clockwise to remove and clean.

Bosch Nexxt 100 series front load washer

You first of all need to check the pump filter.
This should be located at the botom front right of washer.
Look for a drop down flap or cover, once located, unscrew filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean.

The pump itself is directly behind the filter housing, check there is nothing stuck in the housing.
This should solve the prob.
Please leave feedback for my solution.
Thankyou.

The rubber seal at the front of the machine has gone mouldy. I have cleaned it before with bleach but the mould comes back all the time

Front loaders are known for building up mold and the smell.
It’s caused by using liquid detergent which is made from animal fat. Use powder. And use the minimum amount.
It’s caused by using fabric softener. Dilute it 50/50 with water.
It’s caused by the water remaining in the tub between washes. Leave the door open to allow it to dry. .
