Question about Hotpoint HSS25GFP Side by Side Refrigerator
Unit bought and plugged in and worked fine then it tripped GFI plug in garage where it was installed. Ran extension cord to it and light on inside turned on but compressor and fan did not turn on. Some one told me it could not be plugged into a plug on a GFI
That is correct every time the compressor kicks on the gfi will trip.

Of course it can be plugged into a GFI outlet. Sounds like you have a compressor problem.
