The battery is damaged and has to be replaced, take the battery out and should be able to use it on AC power until you get a replacement

Gateway nv52 won't charge

It sounds like you either have a dead mother board or a bad power inlet. Did the machine work with the new battery while it was charged? If so, then the battery connector was good and the inlet was bad. If not, your motherboard could be dead. I've also seen where a bad battery connector would syphon off enough power to not power on the machine or charge the battery.

WAS MISSING CHARGER, but was running on battery. will not charge battery or power up, no lights. Battery went dead MT6821 GATEWAY

Hi,

All you need to do is be sure whu will need to replace both.

If the problem is with either the charger/battery you will need to figure that out first.

Please have the battery charged of your laptop, and try using the laptop only with the battery and without the charger, If it works fine you will have to check the charger now.

In order to check the charger, please take out the battery from the laptop, now connect your charger to the laptop and try switching on the laptop. If it does not work then your charger is faulty.

You can purchase the accessories online at various portals. I am providing one of the portal information:

Gateway mt6821 power jack

The gateway document describing how to take that laptop apart can be found here. However, I'll just warn you that this is not an easy task, and sometimes the force of ripping the ******** the board ruins the board connections in that area and it will not fix it to get a new jack. This is rare, but know that it could happen.

Gateway laptop speakers

Problems of this kind CAN be caused by a driver that has been scrambled by Windows.
Try the following, it may not help but won’t get you in any worse condition than the one you are in.

- Open the Control Panel
- Select System
- Click on the Hardware tab
- Select Device Manager
- Find and open Sound, Video and Game controllers
- Find the driver (check manual) used with your audio system and delete it (remove)

Reboot your system and, if there is nothing else amiss, it will ‘find’ a 'new' device and re-install the software controlling your on-board audio.

If this doesn’t help, then you are likely dealing with a hardware problem that only Gateway can (at excessive cost) ‘cure’ by replacing the main board.
