Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Accidently dropped laptop from approx 2ft height, the internet carried on when i used it until approximately an hour. The laptop froze for over half an hour so I switched it off by the mains and can not get it to load up and boot. When i press the power button on, it goes straight onto a Hp invent pg with various options on the bottom relating to the "F" numbers. Tried various options but end up back at this page. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try cleaning the RAM first. Also open the battery and reinsert it. Then see, if the problem remains, then let us know the exact error numbers.
Please mention model number too

I think the RAM module is not properly connected. Try to reinstall the RAM again.

  • spacewalker Nov 25, 2008

Both are same. RAM stands for Random Access Memory

  • spacewalker Nov 26, 2008

Well here is the bad news. The laptop is unable to detect your hard disk drive.

  • spacewalker Nov 27, 2008

Before purchasing a new hard drive, try to unplug the hard disk and reconnect it, just to make sure that the hard disk is really bad.

Im having problems finding half hieght agp card for my e 4000 gateway

Hi.

Yes you will need a half height AGP graphics card for that tower. You can purchase such card from places like eBay or Amazon. I suggest you get something over 128MB. Click on the link below for an idea.

Good luck and regards.

What are the different formula in solving the area, height, base of a trapezoid?

o find the area of a triangle, multiply the base by the height, and then divide by 2. The division by 2 comes from the fact that aparallelogram can be divided into 2 triangles. For example, in the diagram to the left, the area of each triangle is equal to one-half the area of the parallelogram.
Since the area of a parallelogram is area_parallelogram_form.gif, the area of a triangle must be one-half the area of a parallelogram. Thus, the formula for the area of a triangle is: area_triangle1.gif or area_triangle2.gif where b.gif is the base, h.gif is the height and · means multiply. tab.gif The base and height of a triangle must be perpendicular to each other. In each of the examples below, the base is a side of the triangle. However, depending on the triangle, the height may or may not be a side of the triangle. For example, in the right triangle in Example 2, the height is a side of the triangle since it is perpendicular to the base. In the triangles in Examples 1 and 3, the lateral sides are not perpendicular to the base, so a dotted line is drawn to represent the height.

My laptop beeps on start-up (when logging in).

Hey there, Jiggyboo!
From what you're telling us, it may be something as simple as having a key on the keyboard stuck down. A key may have gone bad, or something may have gotten dropped down between and/or underneath a key. Check out all of the keys to see if this is the case. Hold up the keyboard and look across the tops of the keys. They should all be the same height. Also, you can try slowly pressing each key and make sure that they all feel the same. I would especially start with the keys that you use to enter your password as that seemed to be when the problem started.
Hope this helps and have a good day.

Got a hp laptop with wireless on it the wireless has just stopet working i have to use a usb adapter so that i can go on the internet.can you tell me how to get my wirelss back.thank you.

does the non working wireless card still show up in the device manager?
if so does it show up as installed or with error?

if not is it enabled in the bios?

Also i have seen people accidently turn off the internal wireless card by pressing the little button on the laptop without realizing it or on some laptops the internal card can be turned on and off with function key combination..

On some models when you turn off the internal wireless card with the litttle switch the card will still show up in the device manager as installed and look ok but will not find any networks at all...
and right clicking on the icon and selecting enable radio does nothing untill you phisically turn it on with the little switch

there should be some sort of light or indicator somewhere on the laptop that lights up when the wireless is on..

what model HP laptop do you have?

It has only been 2 and a half months sinse i bought my toshiba equium A300D series laptop. Once i have fully charged my laptop i only have a hour to use until it needs charging again. I never had this...

this happens to every laptop after a while, although after only 2 months it should be ok, you may need to send it back under guarantee, but remember you will have more things running now then when you first had it, using more processor power and also any usb peripherals youve added also shorten battery life.

Computer Freezes when connected to internet.

The first step is to verify that you are not infected with a spyware or virus infection. The fact that you are only having freezing problems when you are connected to the internet is a sign that you may have some kind of infection.

The Geek Squad website has links to free online virus and spyware scanners that can tell you if you're infected.

http://www.geeksquad.com/tools/detail.aspx?id=377

If those scans come up as clean could you please post a Hijackthis log file so we can look at what processes you have running?
