HP Photosmart Camera E327 is not responding to computer

My WIA is turned on and started. Nothing is recognizing my camera when I plug in USB cable to the computer. Not in Picasa, nor Windows, nor in my Photosmart Essential. When I put in my disc to install, it starts running but then at the end it says cannot install as something is missing. (??)

1. First disconnect the camera from the computer if connected.
2. On camera press menu button, and then use the left/right arrow buttons to move to the Menu tab for the Setup Menu.
3. Highlight and then select USB Configuration then press OK.
4. Highlight and then select Disk Drive then press OK.
Fixya did nothing to help me I contacted HP techs and this is what they told me and it worked.

When I plug in the usb cable, my computer says "unrecognise USB device was pluged"...how to make it recogniseable?

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

How do i get my pictures from my camera to my computer?

If you have the HP Photosmart software loaded on the PC, it is very easy. Just connect your camera to your PC using the supplied USB cable with the power OFF on the camera. Once connected, turn the camera on and use the Transfer images from camera/card selection of the menu. The software will do the rest. You can also use a Card Reader, insert the card and connect it to a USB port. Treat it like any other removable drive. Go to My Computer and explore the new "removable drive", Drag the files to your folder of choice on the PC. The memory card is accessed via a door on the side of your camera. Can not connect to USB Port - Error Message (Warning - Drive G:\ containing photos in library has been disconnected. Please reconnect drive and click retry.) Never have gotten this message after hun

Try unplugging a few other things like USB hubs before plugging in the camera. If this does not work, please advise what other messages you get when attempting to connect the camera.
If you are PC savvy, check out device manager in control panel to see if this gives you any more indication as to what the problem is.

My Photosmart E327 won't switch on.

Resetting the camera
If your camera does not respond when you press any
buttons, try resetting the camera as follows:
1. Turn off the camera.
2. If you have an optional memory card installed, remove it.
(Although removing an optional memory card is not
necessary for performing the reset, it eliminates the
memory card as a possible cause of the problem.)
3. Remove the batteries from the camera for 5 to 10
seconds.
4. Reinsert the batteries and close the Battery/Memory card
door.
5. After verifying that the camera works without an optional
memory card, turn off the camera and reinsert the card if
you have one.

Dark screen on HP Photosmart E327

Same problem here, i upload the pics on my computer, then i turn off my cam, few minutes later try to turn it on, but no success, still have the blackscreen. I try to change the battery, reset it (15s without the battery, another 2 hours but no success), format the memory card (even without the memory the cam doesn't turn on).
