Hi you may have a button jammed, or dirty contacts on the connector try giving them a clean. if not you may have a crack in the pcb. its common for people to drop, sit on etc.. there front panels.

Hi, I have a pioneer DEH-P5500MP which always worked just fine but now when there is no cd in the radio it won't play so i try the source button but that doesn't work so i put a cd in and it starts...

It sounds like you may have a bad switch. If you have a multimeter you can check the switches for resistance. If the reading on any of the switches is less than a few megaohms it is probably bad.

I have a Sony CDX L480x fitted in my car, this radio has worked fine since i got the car, unfortunatly when i put the face back on it the other day, none of the buttons will work, volume, source...etc. All...

It sounds like the volume button may be jammed or the volume up switch may be bad. If the switch is open just enough to let some voltage through it locks up the microprocessor. Unless you have a multimeter and know how to check resistance on a switch you would be better having a professional repair person check it out.

Buttons do not work on face plate but CD and volume dial do

the problem your having is from the buttons wearing out over time and the only way to fix the problem is to replace the face plate or the whole radio.

Hey jshaff, try taking off the detachable front, and you will see a reset button, press and hold in for 10 secs, this should solve your problem. if it doesn't work first time keep trying. you must have power to the head unit for this to work. you will hear the cd make a noise and that should be that, try and let me know.

Only volume and function button works, nothing else

I opened up the Faceplate to see if there was something wrong, turns out there was coffee and chocolate keeping one of the buttons stuck on, its all cleaned out now and works great

check for a stuck button on the face. Thats what happened to mine. Nothing on the face worked... remote wouldn't work...started pushing buttons untill one "popped" and then everything was fine.

If you're pressing on the "rotary encoder", then it's you. But if you're not and instead you're just turning it without pressing, you may have a defective unit. Try literally pulling on the thing while turning it. If that avoids triggering the other functions then either you'll have to get used to being gentle, or you need to take it back or send it to Alpine (again, probably just the front faceplate unit needs work...not the whole radio).
