Is it safe to download a file that cleans out the junk you don't need so your computer runs faster. Is it safe?

Without knowing what the file is it is not possible to answer the question directly. Through experience as a computer tech I have found that usually don't trust cleanup programs. If you didn't seek it out and it just got emailed to you or came up in a pop up on the internet it is most likely malware of some type or worse.
If you feel you need a program of this type I would recommend CCleaner. I have used it for years and it won't install malware on your system. It is very powerful so only do things that you understand. The general cleaning button is safe and can be used without knowing anything but the other features like under tools should be understood before using. I also recommend running a scan with malwarebytes. It does a good job and is easy to use.
When installing either one just say no to the free trial. When finished with both programs uninstall them until the next time you need them so their not running in the background slowing things down.

1) Store all files in one folder according to it's type :- The my folder option is provided exclusively for this purpose as it helps in tacking out the type of file you are looking for easily and also its mush easier to backup the files at once. Secondly it helps to run the machine faster.

2) Don't store your files in the root folder c:/ drive.... :- Its recommended to store your files in the other drives that you create, because C drive is formatted every time you format or re-install windows or whenever there is a system crash, as a result all your files are lost.

3) Uninstall the programs that are not in Use :- Running programs tend to use the disk space hence reducing the speed of the system. So Uninstall all the files and programs that are not in use. Don not delete them but go to START, then Control Panel and then Add or Remove programs option and Remove the desired program.

4) When downloading a ZIP file, when you expand it delete the original file when done.

Just try following the above ueful tips and Get going to use a Faster Pc.

I bought a RegPro software and driver detective which they did help a lot but the problem is not completely gone

Slow Windows Machine! Sounds like not enough resources such as RAM and CPU. Check Performance in Task-Manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE). High CPU levels causes hang ups like freezing. Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate. Consider increasing RAM. Uninstall any extras like those pushy toolbars, and add-ons.

BIOS clean up

You dont clean the Bios, you can reset it to the defaults or you can usually update it, but thats not recommended unless it needs a critical update, so many people have tried it with bad results, like the pc not starting up after an update, but it is highly unlikely that anything has changed in there so I would leave it and concentrate on the actual computer hard drive.

You can clean you hard drive if you right click on the C: drive icon in My Computer. Then click on Properties, then click Disk Cleanup. There is also on option to clean all but the latest restore point, that saves a lot of hard drive space.

You can also defragment your hard drive which sorts all the files out so that when a file is accessed it finds all of it at once, instead of finding fragments and putting them all together. Files are not usually stored all in one but are spread around the drive, taking longer to find the fragmented bits. It also consolidates all the free space for faster writing to the drive.

You can also go in to MSCONFIG and click the Startup tab and see what programs are running. Anything in there automatically starts running as soon as Windows starts. You can dissable the ones that you know don't need to be running. Not things like Antivirus, Firewall or anything to do with Internet though.

Go to the start menu and type msconfig in the search / run box and press Enter. When you have unticked the ones you dont want running restart the computer.

You will probably get a box pop up when you have restarted saying that you have been in to the configuration settings etc. Just tick the little box on the left that says Don't show this again or whatever it says.

You could also uninstall any programs that you don't actually use.
Go to the Control panel and click on Add and Remove Programs for Windows XP, or Programs and Features in Windows 7.

If it's just got slow gradually, cleaning up usually helps a bit.

If you just want it to be a bit faster then maybe it can have more Ram fitted on the motherboard, that helps, also upgrading the processor, and a faster hard drive will help.

You can also use a little program called CCleaner whhich searches the hard drive for all the rubbish left over from uninstalled programs, unused files, temporary files that are no longer needed etc. It's a free program and very popular.

You can also clean the registry which gets rid of a lot of rubbish left in there. There is an option in CCleaner whhich will do that.

Hope this helps.

Long time to load on every click

theres a few things you can do to make your internet faster. First, you should know what type of internet you have. Dialup is going to be slow regardless. Also what browser are you using? Some would suggest that FireFox is much faster than a program like IE. Either way if your internet was previously faster try clearing your browsers cache. In ie click tools--> internet options -->delete --> delete all. In firefox click tools --> clear private data -->clear private data now. that should speed you up quite a bit.
