Question about Samsung TXN2745FP 27" TV

1 Answer

Missing channels My TV is 3 years old. For the past 2 weeks, the reception from channels 31 thru 46 has been poor. Either bad reception, or none at all. The problem re-appears and disappears just as quickly; it's not all the same channels at the same time, either. The cable guy says the reception is fine- we tested the cable line with a 2nd TV -no problems with reception. Also, response to the remote control has been variable. Like above, it stops working, then suddenly starts again. Repeatedly pushing the TV/video button seems to help. New batteries, trying a "universal" remote- no help. Are the two problems related? Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: missing channels

No they are not related. ur tv seems to have a defective tuner(inspect also for possible cold solder inside the tuner). remote control can be clean using a cotton swab with a little isoprophyl on it. clean the contact on the pcb.

Poor picture quality on Ilo 46'' television

Do you have cable or satellite? Disconnect them and if you currently have free over the air TV and the same problem occurs with these channels, then there's something wrong with the TV. If the problem only occurs on channels with sat or cable connection, then there may be a faulty cable somewhere that can easily be replaced.

If the problem occurs with free channels, one solution (although a long one) would be to unplug your TV completely for about a week, this will reset the TV settings

It gives an excellent reception but only for a while

There is a problem with the tuner section. I would first suspect poor solder connections. If resoldering the ground connections on the tuner fails to resolve the problem, a replacement can be purchased for $38.40 using part number: 8-598-594-30

Menu keys not working & Chanel 2 & 3 Only

Greetings Eagle7eye,

It sounds like you might have a problem with the cable settings for your TV. There are a few standards for cable broadcasts and you may need to set it to standard or "STD". But since your menu button doesn't seem to be working this would pose a problem.

I would try and access your settings with the universal remote and look for something like antenna (ANT) and change it from air to cable. Depending on how old your TV is too there may be a small switch near your coaxial connection for the cable setting.

Good Hunting.

Can't get TV onto the AUX channel

You can purchase an RCA universal remote that will let you access the A-V inputs. These only cost about $10.00 or so. Stargazer

1996 RCA Color TV model G27720tn

If you are on cable, first run the cable wire from the wall directly to the TV, eliminating any cable box and/or VCR. If channel 2 is snowy but the rest (especially 3-6) are clear, it is most certainly a cable problem and not a TV problem. The TV uses the exact same circuits for channel 2 to 6 (VHF-LOW) so if the tuner was bad and 2 was snowy, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be snowy too. Bring a second TV into that room, disconnect the cable wire from the RCA and connect it to the second TV. Is channel 2 on the second TV as snowy as it was on the RCA?

Poor reception

It sounds like a problem with the tuner in the TV set. Hook up a VCR through the video inputs and hook the cable through the VCR and if the picture is still snowy, the problem is the cable. If the picture is clear, the problem is the tuner in the TV set. If you wanted, you could simply leave the VCR attached to the TV set and change cable channels through the VCR, or have the TV serviced. Good Luck

You got the right idea, use the ext.imput on you tv and use the vcr to change the channels, you can check the solder conections in the tuner ,ussually the ground gets loose after a while but if you are not too familiar with tv service and dont want put any money in this set use your vcr.If the quality of the picture is still good then is worth keeping it.Let Us know if you need more information.
