Question about Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

U-Shaped piece I was in the hospital for a couple of nights and my 80 year old mother decided to go to my house and vacuum my house. When I went to get it out to vacuum the other night the u shaped part fell off. I guess my mom had somehow knocked it off. Now I cannot figure out where it goes. It is a plastic U-shaped piece. Can you help me? I sat for a hour trying to figure out where it goes.

It attaches at the bottom of the hose and goes into the bottom of the valve. Located on the back bottom of the unit.

I have a Eureka 4800 series the Boss upright with a bag and Hepa filter. I love it! I was just vacuuming with the hose part and all was well and then suddenly the lower brush came on and a "burning" smell...

I had the same problem. Take out the old belt if possible. Remove the 4 screws inside the filter and the 3 on the front of that housing. pull out the foam around the motor. carefully pull out the suction tube that is press fit against the motor. then you can pull the motor out. place it on its side, shaft side up and grab your hammer. tap down the metal sleeve that has been rubbing against the plastic housing. reinstall everything including a new belt and you should be good to go.

Cleaning the filters

Hello,

There are 3 different filters on this particular model. Two of them are foam, and as washable, the 3rd is a HEPA filter that's located on the back and is not washable, but needs to be replaced once a year.

The most important filter, and the one that most people are not even aware of, is located directly underneath of the dirt cup. Directly under the dirt cup you'll see a black tray that says "pull". Pull this tray out, and you'll find a square shaped washable filter. Simply remove this filter and rinse it under water until it's clean. Make sure to let the filter completely air dry before reinstalling it in the vacuum and using the vacuum again.

The second foam filter is located directly above the dirt cup. Remove the dirt cup, and in the clear plastic housing that's directly above the dirt cup you'll find a circular colored plastic piece. Reach your hand up there, and unscrew this plastic part while pulling downward. You'll find a circular shaped filter that wraps around this plastic piece. This filter may also be washed the same way as the square shaped one, again just make sure that the filter is completely dry before using the vacuum again.

The HEPA filter is actually on the back of the vacuum in a grate that pull down to open it and remove it. This filter needs to be replaced only, and can not get wet.

The foam filters can be washed several times, but will sooner or later need to be replaced, as they will start to deteriorate after a few washings.

If you need to purchase these filters, here are direct links to all of the filters on your vacuum cleaner.

Dyson dc14 has lost suction

Down on the lower right hand side of the vacuum, when you're behind it, there is a little 'J' shaped piece with a purple clip on it. Tilt the vacuum up and unclip this. Usually, people who have these amazing vacuums will accidently **** up things like lollipop sticks/pens/paperclips/etc. that don't bend... and will stay in this piece. This should solve your problem.

No more suction on hose attachment

have you cleaned the foam filter? there should also be a u shaped piece of tubing that connects the attachments to the rest of the machine, sometimes it gets clogged ( quite often, i repair on average 3 dysons a week ) also people tend to loose the tube as well.

I need instructions on how to replace filters in the dc07 please

You first need to purchase a filter. When you have it, stand in front of the machine.
- Look at the right-hand side wheel. To the left of it there is a lever with ridges/ribs and a half-moon shaped top with a an arrow image on it. Push the lever. The filter housing will open. Take it off and turn it around. On the inside you will see something that looks like a slice of orange with a half-moon hole in the middle. Put your finger directly into the entrance of the hole and lift the filter out. You can now replace the filter or simply just wash the old one. You can take the gray (should be blue) foam piece out of the yellow housing (orange slice) and wash that as well in cold water. Leave it out to dry and only put it back in the machine when it is dry.

Tune up Old Electrolux vacumm

The problem with the older vacuums is that parts may not be available. It may be better to get new. But you could take it in and get an estimate first, then decide.
