Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Bathtubs was not listed in the "pick an expert" list, so choose dishwashers as closest thing to a bathtub. I have a whirlpool bath tub (don't know the make, but it is only 4 years old) It works fine but have a question - near the top of the bathtub there is a screaw in cap type of thing. It is a disk with a threaded bit on the back. The disk is about 1-1/4 inches in diameter and the threaded bit on the back is about 1/2 inch diameter and 1 inch long. Is this for allowing extra air into the system, or what is its use? The bathtub has just a push button for activating the motor that drives the water out of the various jets.would appreciate some help in knowing what the valve type thing is near the top of the tub (olong the side). thank you

How to clean a whirlpool bath tub

There are three main things to tackle when cleaning a hot tub or whirlpool bath. Those things are:

1. Bacteria
2. Grease
3. Grime and dirt

To address all three of these issues you'll likely need separate products. There are liquid versions of the degreaser and cleaner, and there are tablet versions for sanitizing.

Simply fill up the whirlpool bath with warm water, put the cleaning liquid in the cleaning outlet (or if you don't have this, just pour it into the bath). Put the tablet in the bath and then just run it.

This should do the job.

Cleaning your Tub
There are several options for cleaning the piping on a jetted bathtub.
The reason you have a residue on the bathtub surface when you are done bathing is because there is bacteria built up in the plumbing of the jetted tub. In order to remove that and reduce the amount of "yucky stuff" coming into the tub when using it, we recommend a regular usage of a jet cleaning product about once every couple of months
Here is a link at the bottom to the cleaning products I can find right now. There may be others out there that I am not aware of but I do know these products work well in all jetted bathtubs.

American standard jet bath tub black particles coming out of jets

The problem you are experiencing is common to many jetted bathtubs. It is a result of dried bathing water in the tub. There are a couple of solutions to resolve this ongoing problem.
  1. Use your tub more frequently as the water will not have time to fester in the pipes.
  2. Use a cleaning solution made for cleaning the pipes on jetted bathtubs once every three months.

Difference tubs and air baths

whirlpool tub has jets that circulate the water, where an air bath uses bubbles that rise gently from the bottom of the tub. Whirlpools are typically used for therapy, air baths are used for a much gentler experience. Air baths can be used with aromatherapy/essential oils. Both offer a spa-like experience.

Bathtubs Safety Question?

Yes. They are every bit as safe as your standard bathtub or shower. Unlike outdoor spas or hot tubs (which are similar to swimming pools), your indoor whirlpool bathtub is emptied after each use. There are no chemicals or stored water involved.
