Sounds like a thermostat problem. Try turning it on to Max. If that does not help get in touch with the maker's website

Fridge not cooling... Freezer is fine

Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool, then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling, then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not cooling.-------

The freezer seems fine but the other side is not very cool.

I had the same problem w/mine, Found out it was the timer. There is a timer on most fridge's that turn on a defrost lamp inside your fridge. That is why all fridgs are frostless now. They still freeze up, but a lamp will defrost them automaticly. When the coils freeze up, they wont cool the fridge side & but will still cool the freezer side. generally the timer is where the controls are, behind the cover.

I believe this is normal behaviour in all auto defrost (which means virtually all modern) fridges. In fact, this short heating period is usually programmed to happen 2 to 3 times a day. You might rightly ask why the refrigerator compartment needs to undergo "defrost" cycles when the compartment is, if the refrigerator is operating correctly, above freezing? The reason is although the compartment is above freezing, its cooling coils are well below freezing temperature, and it's these coils that need the frequent defrosting, before they build up so much frost on them that they "ice up" and no longer allow the fan blown air that cools the refrigerator compartment to pass through them.

I HAVE A KENMORE MODEL # 253.63732300 TOP FREEZER REFRIGERATOR. IT HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR 2 YEARS. I GOT IT OUT AND PLUGGED IT UP TO USE IT BUT NOW THE FREEZER & REFRIGERATOR WILL NOT GET COLD. WHAT...

Was the refrig on its side at any time during movement and if so , was it left standing for 24 hrs before turning on ?
Check the fans to see if frozen (rust ) from the humidity when unplugged . 1 in the freezer and 1 in the rear , cooling the compressor .
Try tapping on the thermostat , and see if refrig starts . Not a slight tap (except at first) but not a heavy tap either .
Excellent organization of your question , with the complete model number . Most do not give the first 3 numbers , therfore , unable to help them .

Refrigerator not cool, freezer ok

Either the freezer continues to freeze up (most likely due to low refrigerant, due to a leak), or there is an obstruction between the freezer and the refrigerator (refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer).

Given that it works after you defrost it, I'm going with low gas. Call a professional to see if the leak can be fixed. If the unit is more than 10 years old, just get a new one.
