Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I have had this system for a couple of years, but it has sat in an unopened box until now. All original packaging remained intact, and it was stored in a dry place at normal room temperature. I now find that it will not play any CDs - display just reads 'no disc' and the machine does not even make any sounds to suggest that it is trying to read the disc. It has not worked once since I opened it.I wonder if you have any suggestions?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Cannot get music CD's to read.
The lens have a bad habit of falling out of the optic assemblies. They are held in with only a 2 dabs of glue. You can VERY CAREFULLY glue it back in. It is a plastic lens and affected badly by the wrong type of glue. Use a craft/modelling glue. DO NOT USE SUPER GLUE It will cloud the lens and render it useless.
APPLY SPARINGLY. Glue everywhere or on the face of the lens can easily destroy the coating.
This method works 4 out of 5 times without having to do the grating adjustments on the optics. And save you $100 for new optics and time to set them up. Good luck, and dont forget to rate me "FixYa" If you need more advice on these players... i have fixed hundreds of them. They are well worth repair and hard to replace with anything similar. .

Try resetting the CD (Cambridge soundworks) by unplugging, then repluging. Then hold down the eject button while you turn on the power.

Hi there, this lens may be dirty or it may have a thin layer of heat film that is causing it to not read in a consistent manner. i would try to clean the lens with a good CD lens cleaner. if the cleansing doesn't restore the lens to its original reading state, this will confirm lens assembly failure and you will need to replace this assembly.

SOURCE: Will not read the disc
The optical lens assembly is damaged at this point. the lens has burned out and the tracking/load motor seems to be faulty as well. replace the optical lens asap.
