I just got a 2001 dell latitude c600 and it said that windows what not genuine, From what I understand, it originally came with windows 2000, but right now it has windows xp on it. I tried to system restore, but it messed up the computer and the file explorer.exe will not run. I can't open certain files to remove components and when I turn the computer on, it will not boot. I get as far as the screen, but no start up menu and desktop icons. Please help me!

Well, the drivers for the Dell C600 should work the same with any changed palmrest, I have swapped the same parts many times, so I would first assume the speakers to be bad, if nothing on the mainboard or software changed
Hmmm, Typically safe mode overcomes most errors, You can make changes in MS-Dos, but if all else fails and you fear data loss, daisy chain the hard disk to another computer with matching OS and move the important files then wipe and re-format
