No freeview bbc channels

Hello and thank.

I have just installed a JVC AV-28E50 with integrated freeview and have run through all of the factory installation scans for both anolgue and freeview channels.

The odd thing is that the digital/freeview receiver finds a good selection of available channels with plenty of signal strength. However, when selecting either BBC1 or 2 the channel displays for approx 5 seconds then the screen goes blank. During this time I can see that the signal strength for both channels is pretty good; 60% +. This cut out does nt happen on any other station.

I have also tried my stand alone freeview box to see if the prblem was with the signal/transmission but it works fine and happily displays all of the channels the TV can find and the BBC channels do not cut out which leads me to conclude there may be a fault with the set?

Any ideas? I can use my stand alone box for BBC but it is not the ideal setup, especially when the TV has one integrated.

Thank you for your consideration and thoughts

Hello there - I have a JVC LT - 23D50BK with Free view and the same thing started happening today Jan 8th 2009 - It's only 18 months old. Screen is fine for 5 secs then a black screen and I cannot get it back without changing the channel then when I go back it happens again! It happens on BBC 1. BBC 2. BBC 3 (NOT BBC 4) and BBC NEWS. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this other than chucking this TV out the window? Thanks.

My humax won't;t record bbc channels. I have tried retuning the tv.

This could be too much signal thanks to the Freeview retunes going on. Your aerial is more sensitive at some frequencies, so there's more signal power higher up the frequency range. The signals for BBC and ITV are among the strongest ones broadcast. If they are now at a point on the aerial's range where they are too strong for the TV then the tuner will over-saturate. The result is the same as no signal.

Have a look online for a Variable Signal Attenuator. It's a device that can be added to a aerial signal cable just before it goes in to the tuner. The adjuster allows the signal level to be reduced. Watch the TV's signal quality and signal level displays if it has them. As signal level (power) reduces you'll actually see signal quality increase. If you go too far then quality will start to go down again. The optimum point is where quality is highest.

How to tune freeview for digihome PVR80 it wont record bbc how to fine tune it .when we had to re-tune for channel 5 it worked perfect so please tell me how to do that again

On your remote control, press 'menu'.
Then select 'set up' on the screen.
Then select 'Installation' on the screen.
Then select 'Automatic channel scan' on the screen.
The box should then scan for all channels, and with luck BBC will be included. If not, please repost. Some older Digihome PVR80s can't cope with the new multiplexing standard employed by digital freeview.

After retune no bbc 1 2 bbc news channels tv with

Sounds like you haven't retuned the set correctly. Use the factory settings/ default setting if poss. Look out for too much signal if you are on a booster.

Satellite works fine in the day but no signal in

I have run into this problem a couple of times, once a loose connection at the LNB, other times it has been due to moisture build up (dew) in the loose connections, check all connections from the LNB through the tuner, and any other devices involved (a line map maybe?) that will most likely resolve the problem.

Lost BBC channels on my SAGEM PVR6200T during a retune

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

http://www.freeview.co.uk/_retuneinfo/

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.

Philips DTR220/05 digital freeview reciever not recieving anymore

If the box is still receiving some channels, then the box is probably not at fault.

If you have done the full "First time Installation" rather than search for new channels, then eithe the aerial, connection or signal is likely to be to blame.

There have been several changes with the Freeview service over the last few months, and there will be more in the run up to analogue switch off.

In some cases, channels have moved, and in other cases the service has been switched off for a short period, low power etc.

Check the aerial on a standard analogue signal, if the quality is poor, then this rules out the box.
