Question about HP DESKJETS - OFFICEJET PRO L7680 AIO PR Printer

Open Question

L7680 has no IP, Subnet Mask or Default Gateway.

I have tried in vain to add the IP, Subnet and Default gateway to this machine (this is our 3rd replacement) for a Wired Lan. Have tried the automatic and the manual settings. Even the manual settings won't stay when added. Thanks.

SOURCE: HI,

Normally most internal LAN addressing is carried out by a DHCP server which issues IP addresses to anything that is connected to the network.
IE your computer. most switches are set to obtain an IP address from them as a default. to find the IP address of youe switch you need to look at your DHCP server ( possibly your router/modem) and see what addresses have been issued. Once you have found the address it is a simple task to open your internet browser and type in the ip address of your switch. once there you should be able to configure your switch as per your requirements.

When configuring an address for the printer, the IP configuration might look like (just an example):

IP Address - 192.168.1.2

Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1

It's important to note that even though you are not using any IP addresses in the default range for DHCP, the Subnet Mask and Default Gateway addresses will be THE SAME.

If you have another device on your network that will be assign a fixed address, you would use for example:

IP Address - 192.168.1.3

Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1

For any other devices, just increment the IP address by one, 192.168.1.4, 192.168.1.5, etc and use the same Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.
(see the owners manual or site for steps on configuraing the printer TCP/IP information). This should take care of any conflicts.

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.
Sounds like both these network printers have lost connection to your router or failed to obtain an IP address after server maintenance or network upgrades.
Would suggest printing a configuration page on each of the printers and determine what the IP address is (If there is one) and see if other devices are in conflict. Power down your printers and reseat your Jetdirect Network Cards and confirm cable connections. Re-Power the printers and print configuration again to see if obtaining IP address.
Find out what IP address are to be assigned these printers and manually configure via embedded Web Server or at the printer control panel. Consult your manual or Follow these steps:
Configure the network product View or change network settings
1. Type the IP address into the address line of a Web browser to open the embedded Web server. 2. Click the Networking tab to obtain network information. You can change settings as needed.
Manually configure IPv4 TCP/IP parameters from the control panel In addition to using the embedded Web server, you can also use the control-panel menus to set an IPv4 address, subnet mask, and default gateway. 1. Press Menu . 2. Press the down arrow to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press OK. 3. Press the down arrow to highlight I/O, and then press OK. 4. How to hook n40 on a network

just add it to one of the router's lan ports..and after that access the tcp/ip protocol into the network card ...of the printer ..and choose to get an ip address automatically ..
This will add it into the network ..and all the other devices will be able to send jobs to its IP ..or just find it when you hit search for printer inside default gateway ..
If this do not work ..than you will have to configure the Ip and subnet mask ..and default gateway manually like this ..

the Ip will be the router's Ip +the number of the port ...so if the router is ..192.168.1.1...than the printer in number 3 port will be ..192.168.1.4 and the subnetmask will be :255.255.255.0 and the default gateway will be the router itself..192.168.1.1

the dns servers will either be configured automatically and in this case will take the network's ones from the router ..or insert the ISP dns same as in the router ..

Canon MF4370dn printer network connection problem

Hi,
I had the same problem. I entered the info manually and it works. You could follow the instructions on how to do it manually in the e-manual (on the CD).
To get the IP, subnet mask, and default gateway: open a command prompt from windows. At the command prompt, type "ipconfig" without the quotes. Write down the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
For the IP, for example, if what you have from the step above is 192.168.0.100, add 10 (so that you wont have repeated IPs by auto DHCP from the router. I am assuming you have no more than 5 machines on your network.) to the last number to have 192.168.0.110 to enter manually into the printer. Use the same subnet mask and default gateway.
Hope it helps.
Linh.
