A new print head can be purchased from a number of suppliers, but it is by no means an easy task to install it. A service manual is required, which can also be purchased from a number of suppliers. Just do a Google search. However, this course of action is unlikely to be cost effective i.e. more expensive than buying a new printer.

If you are really attached to your C46, then have a look at e-bay - second-hand C46 printers do appear now and again.

If you decide to have a go at replacing the print head yourself, post a new comment to this effect, and I will be able to provide useful tips on doing the job.

My stylus 580 is barely laying down any ink. very muted, faded. not out of ink and have cleaned the heads. any advice?

Clean the print head 3 times and print the nozzle check. Try to remove the inks from the printer and put them back in. If that does not do any improvement at all, the print head nozzles are clogged. You may want to take your printer to a service center.

When i turn my printer on error message occurs E-01 printer is a epson sx215

Power off the printer, unplug the power cable.
Lift the scanner lid, check for obstructions that might be blocking the print head.
Close the lid, reconnect the power cable and power on the printer.
If it still says E-01, please contact your local service center or the store where you purchased the printer for your warranty options.

Problem with colour printing. Orange and green

Wow, that's a really old EPSON printer. The life expectancy of a EPSON printer is just three years, after that, the printer wouldn't work because of the clogged permanent printing head. The authorized service center is unable to repair it because the spares are no longer supplied.
Throw it to a recycling center.

Epson r220 print head goes left and then makes a grinding sound

Your printer needs a service reset. Epson printers will only accept x number of cartridge changes / print head cleans. Basically it's telling you that the waste ink pad is saturated. It will cost about £30.00 from a local service centre

Epson stylus C88 won t print color ink black is

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:

Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.

Printer cartridge problem

I have a 440 and have had the same problem. Of course, I have been using cartridges from Printpal, Inkgrabber, etc. that are not official Epson. I have found that it takes several cleanings and after the cartridge has been in the position for the ink to go down it will start. My last order from Printpal said to set all the cartridges in the position they are in when installed in the printer for several days prior to installation. Of course, every cleaning of the print head uses up more of your ink. You don't have much choice though.

if you left your printer for two weeks or more without using, the print heads may be stuffiness. In this case (aparently yours cases) you must take your printer to a authorized service, they will can clean (with a proper fluid) or replace the ink heads, if cleaning is not possible.

You may have to realign the paper feed sensor. I knocked mine off and got the same results. Just push it back into place.
