The problem is definitely the gas valve solenoid coils sitting on top of the gas valve assembly. There are two of them, one with three prongs and the the has two, and held by a bracket. They must be working fine when cool but eventually fail when get hot. Simply replace the coils and the dryer should start heating. Just make sure to disconnect power to the dryer before attempting any repair works.

Pull the lint filter out and remove the screws near the opening.

Insert a putty knife blade or similar tool between the top panel and the front panel to release the clips securing the top panel to the top of the front panel on both sides as shown then rotate the top panel up to the rear of the dryer.

Disconnect the door switch wire harness then remove the front panel screws and lift the panel up and off the cabinet.

You now have access and view of the burner assembly where the gas valve coils are located.

Disconnect the wires from the coils and remove the screws from the bracket then lift the coils out. Slide the new coils in then secure it with the bracket and reconnect the wire harnesses.

Reinstall the front panel from the bottom then up and secure it to the cabinet. Rotate the top panel down back into position then push it against the top of the front panel until the securing clips engage and snap into place.

Main burner may not be igniting properly or over temp may be triggering and turning off burner. Check burners and overtemp devices and correct pilot light flame. The thermocouple may be faulty and not holding the gas valve in properly.

I have a siemans wtxd5522uc 27" ultrasense gas dryer that the ignitor won't fire. What is the supply voltage to the ignitor? Is it usually the ignitor that goes or some sensor? Every thing else...

hi sir it ignites at the voltage bet 230v-250v.there will be a sensor problem where it cannot try to ignite try to clean ignitor area.. In a gas dryer, heat is provided by a gas heater that is controlled by an air shutter. The gas heater is generally the source of no-heat or drying problems. You can often correct such problems by adjusting the air shutter on the gas burner, which is located along the bottom of the dryer.
To adjust the shutter, take out the screws and remove the panel that covers the gas flame. Turn on the dryer so the flame is burning. If the flame has a deep blue color and you hear air whistling around the burner, the air/gas mixture is receiving too much air. If the flame has a yellow tip, the mixture is not receiving enough air. Turn the thumbscrew or loosen the two screws slightly to increase or decrease the flow of air to the burner. Keep turning until the flame is a light blue color, without any yellow, and the whistling stops.

Gas dryers use an electric ignition device rather than a pilot light to light the gas heater: An element becomes hot and glows like the filament in a lightbulb. Electric ignition systems are always sealed; you can't adjust or repair them. If an electric ignition device fails, call a professional service person for replacement.

Replaced coils & igniter but dryer won't heat. Tested all thermostats and they read good. Can't see if the igniter is glowing or not.

check psu to ignitor and the main burner valve sets and resets
you can do this manualy by removing the thermocouple and testing the burners does it try to strike??? and doesnt burn or does the burner try to come on then go out if it wont strike perhaps the door catch isnt right you dont give a make model etc details so its hard to even guess,,,?

Burner lights and goes out

It may may be the safety system for pilot light is maladjusted. There is a sensor which has to be heated by the pilot light or the valve shuts down altogether. If the pilot light stays lit then you check to see if it is positioned to light main burner.

Dryer runs but does not heat on maytag model med6000xw1

If you have a newer model with electronic ignition, check igniter by the burner, or if a pilot light ignition, obviously re-light, but possibly the gas safety interlock switch is tripped by a weak pilot flame, which causes main gas valve to stay off. Best guess, igniter element has cracked, and is simple to replace, order online.

My Maytag gas dryer, Model No, LDG7500AAW will run but not heat. The igniter glows red, but the gas will not flow. What might be wrong?

Replace the 2 burner coils ,if the igniter keeps cycling trying to start the flame. If it doesn't replace the flame sensor mounted on the side of the burner tube.

This is the closest model # I could find but I have a gas dryer model TGDX640EQO and it doesn't heat up but does tumble. My husband thinks it is the ignitor, how would you determine that?

First clean all the dust and lint from around the burner and its components, including the sensor which 'tells' the dryer that the ignitor is on or the burner is lit.

There are two different types of ignitors. The most common glows a bright red to light the burner. The other gives off a series of sparks.

In either case, a visual examination should tell you whether the ignitor is working. Before you start the dryer, remove the burner access panel. Have someone start the dryer while you look into the burner unit to see if you see the 'glow plug' or the 'sparker' trying to light the burner. If not, the ignitor is probably bad.

If the ignitor is not the problem, look for dirty or defective sensors that will keep the burner from coming on. If these sensors do not sense the light given off by the ignitor, for safety reasons the burner will not come on.

Hope this was helpful.

Have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer - model # lgr7646a spins but no heat

Thre is no pilot light. This dryer uses an ignitor (glow bar or coil).
Open the lower front "door" (small access door) and turn on dryer.
If the ignitor does not glow (bright orange), then the ignitor needs to be replaced ($60).
If it does glow, then the gas valve needs replacement ($60).
If it isd the valve, the internal spring is stuck. Do not try to repair it, you must replace it.
