We lost power to the washer and dryer, plugged them back in and the washer is fine but the dryer will not power on. Power to the unit, but not a light comes on the control panel. Service guy came out, checked the power, told me it had power, but he was sure why it didn't work. He tried to charge for a service call, fat chance of that. What's the problem? 2 years old, electric, great service, til now.

Our dryer just suddenly stopped! We have no light and it seems no power. We checked out fuse box and everything is fine there. Does this dryer have a fuse that would cause all electricity to stop?

Hello
No .Double check your cicuit breakers. If your dryer is electric there are two breakers.Switch all the way off then all the way on to reset.
I if ok then suspect door switch .It kills everything and if stuck ,the light too.

Happy hunting

Dryer will not start , still has power to unit as dryer light still works

One of three problems very probable:
Thermal fuse failed. Test it for continuity with dryer unplugged. Cheap part to replace.
Door switch failure. Jumper wires (power unplugged) and try. If it works, replace this switch. Also cheap.
Motor or motor switch failed. Replace motor. Expensive!!

If the power source was wired wrong and a "fuse blew" is that fuse on the circuit board and would I need to replace the entire circuit board?

The "fuse" that you have mentioned, is the Electrical Panel suppling voltage to your appliances, Chances are very Good That the Circuit Board has been Damaged, make sure your supply voltage is Correct,at the Dryer, and try the Dryer again.

Won't start

Tip: Save yourself time and money by purchasing a volt-ohm meter. Volt-ohm meters are used to find electrical malfunctions in your home.

Warning!
To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

If your dryer doesn't work at all, it could be because of problems with:

Power from the house
Door switch
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

Check your fuse box on the house. Try resetting it.
