I dropped my laptop and the battery came out , once i put it back together and turned it on the screen goes black and it says "the amount of system memory has changed" i then have to turn it off and on again before it then says something about expecting to read memory parameters and then gives me the option to srike F1 to continue or F2 to enter setup, I press F1 and i continue as normal and it works fine. However doing this everytime i turn it on is becoming annoying , any help would me much appreciated ...thanks

This problem can be caused by two reasons:

1) The CMOS battery is damaged or displaced ( apart from the external battery, there is a small battery which is connected to the motherboard)

2) One of the RAM modules is displaced.

First make sure that the laptop displays the amount of RAM correctly. You do this by opening Control Panel -> System and noticing the amount of RAM.

If it is okay then press F2 when your computer starts of to enter bios. Make sure that the date and time displayed are okay, if not change them accordingly. Then Save the CMOS and exit.

If nothing changes then let me know

Dell D600 won't boot

I am sure Not the CPU or fan problem. Follow the below step to repair it.
1. Just press the power button 5 seconds or more to see the laptop can reboot or not. 2. replug the memory modules. 3. maybe the power supply device failed that the electronic volt is not enough to boot the laptop. Just replace a new Dell latitude d600 battery power supply.

When I turn on my computer it begins the boot then goes black

Try booting into safe mode. That will disable all drivers and use generic windows drivers to send commands to the devices. If that still doesnt work, id say that there is a problem with your OS installation. Backup your files using an external harddrive enclosure and reinstall the OS.

Sounds like a driver might have gone AWOL. Can you go into safe mode? Usually by pressing F8 after the Dell logo you will be prompted to go into safe mode.

Go insto safe mode and once inside restart the computer. This will repair anything that may have shutdown improperly.

If you can, also change the resolution to the least available, normally 800x600. Once you get back into the "normal" session, you can set it to your liking.

See if this works for you.

Dell D600 Battery Causes Screen to go Black

Laptop batteries normally just last for a few years, depending on usage. If your battery is almost done, it may report a 'full' status, but just have the capacity to feed your laptop for a few minutes.

You may check this by disconnecting current while your laptop is started up. If low battery capacity is the cause, the same will happen within a few minutes.

Laptops normally go in standby on low battery, to avoid data loss.
