Can't hear incoming conversation

I'm using 2G iphone with version 2.1 software. Currently having a of can't hear who I'm calling or who'scalling me unless I put it on speaker phone.
Appreciate your help.

- While calling someone or receiving someone's call, cannot hear sound from the receiver (earpiece) but the person on call can hear me. If I use speaker or headset/earphones, everything works fine. Ringing tone works fine for an incoming call, mic works fine..- marathester
