Question about Delphi Roady XT XM Radio Receiver

1 Answer

Roady 2 I have a Roady2. At some point the tip (black plastic ring) came off of a power adapter and got stuck in the power "port" on the radio. This prevented the power adapter from my other car from snugly fitting in the XM radio. Since I could not get the tip out of the radio, I simply removed the tip from the other power adapter. I have just purchased a Boombox for my Roady2 and the power adapter will again not fit. Before I screw up the boombox (which will make it non-returnable in case I want to send it back) does anyone have any ideas how I can get the tip out of my radio? Is there a service center I can send it to (or would that cost more than a new radio??) Appreciate any help.

Rework a paper clip so it has a little hook on the end and shove it into the connector to hook the plastic piece and remove it.

SOURCE: great signal, so sound

My XM Boombox is also white and it is a Belkin. The folks at Delphi told me the receiver in the boombox is screwed up which over time also screws up the Delphi receiver. Belkin is sending me a new boombox and Delphi is sending me a new Roady XT.

SOURCE: does not work when docked in boombox, not getting

the "reactivate" did not take in it's entirety, try calling sirus/XM again and see if they will "reboot it again, this time try having it the docking station within antenna "range", and both should "reboot", let me know if this fixes the problem, if not I have some friends there I can call, and we'll go from there, god bless and happy 4th......

Sounds like its the dock itself. Have you tried using the home dock with the vehicle power or visa versa? This should help you confirm what the problem is. You can get a replacement power adapter here:

A cradle may be difficult to find, but TSS Radio can help you look.

I have an older model radio.. Delphi Roady 2.. gets powe to the docking station to the removalable unit but screen display will not light up.. any suggestions???

Probably the cheapest solution is to buy a used Roady2 off online bidding service like ebay and then pay the $15 to XM to switch radios. Delphi no longer makes Roady2. Probably could not repair for a cheap as you can buy used radios (around $25).

My xm Roady 2 was blinking on and off and I was wondering if this is a power (adapter wearing out?) problem.. I've had this radio for just over three years now and use it quite a bit.. Is it at it's...

Yes, these radios have the plugs going in and out all the time, and that typically wears them out as they do NOT have a dedicated dock for the Roadys like they do for the SkyFi's etc. Not much you can do other than get it into position where it works and leave it there.

Wont turn on

What power supply are you using? You need the older 6volt unit. Next, look down inside where you plug the power plug in. Many times the tip of the plug will break off and get stuck down inside the hole - if you see a piece of yellow plastic down there, you need to remove it with a small pointed hobby knife (Xacto). After you remove that, then try plugging the power supply in and wait a minute. IF it doesn't automatically come on, THEN push the power button. Okay?

Roady 2 signal goes in and out....

We've been having the same problem with our Roady XT unit at the office. Sometimes I think it's possessed because it goes in and out, changes to the mute mode, and sometimes turns itself off. Just got another Roady XT unit today. It played fine, then went into the mute mode. Called XM and they told me to reset unit to factory default. It's fine at the moment.

Trying to install Roady 2

If the Roady2 has a fm modulator built in, you can go to the menu and set the fm frequency. If it doesn't, you could use a fm transmitter that they have for mp3 players to listen to in the car

No power from transformer

I had the same thing happen on my original Roady2. I suspect the powerplug port on the Roady2 unit is not getting a good connection. Does the transformer plug have a plastic tip? You can try to cut that off with a sharp razor blade. Sometimes that will make a good tight connection. What I did was buy a used Roady2 unit on ebay. Also another cause is

the power connection is not being made by an internal problem or wear caused by constantly plugging and unplugging the power port. I use a Cambridge XM playdock boombox at home. I bet getting a different unit will solve the problem. The only problem is that finding a used unit might take some work. Good Luck

No Signal After Reconnecting Roady2

Try playing the Roady 2 through a fm radio with the audio jack(middle connection) disconnected and the FM Frequency & Fm Radio set to the same station. At least this will tell if the receiver is working. I suspect that you got an aftermarket audiojack for your stereo. Might want to check that. Go back to the manual FM Modulation setup instructions. Any FM receiver will work. Good Luck

XM Roady2 Built in FM Modulator not working

It's not in the menu selections because the Roady 2 does not have an internal FM transmitter. The Roady XT does though.
