Question about Zenith D52WLCD 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
An asymmetrical area of blue has appeared in the lower right corner of the screen. Is this something I can fix or do I need a professional?
I had a 52" Zenithe LCD with the same problems that you are discribing and since I work in the industry I have a relationship with a couple of authorized service centers. I took a digital picture and emailed it to both of them and both replies were that the light engine was going out and it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to fix this one. That is the bad news, here is the good news. LG/Zenith has lost a class action lawsuit regarding the light engines in the LCD rear projection TVs. The settelement includes extending the manufacturers warranty till 2010 and/or repayment of money paid to fix, calibrate or replace the TV.

Been in touch with Lg electronics and they have agreed to buy me out of my tv or replace it with a Refurbished LCD of the same size. Even though I am out of warranty this shows great customer relations in my eyes.

This is a chronic failure with this unit and the optic assy (light engine) is the problem. This part is only available rebuilt and cost is around 500.00 and requires a qualified service professional to repair.
