Vibrations and banging when heater is turned on

I have just bought a Haywood propane heater for my hot tub. When 1st turned on, everything was good, then after a while I noticed the hot tub had to be turned on to a faster flo rate to stop the banging and vibrations in the pipe. Now on the fast flo rate its doing it all the time. I have a 2hp pump on a small 9 jet system, so plenty of flo. Can you help please

Thank you so much for that. Its hooked up the right way, but I dont think it can be calcium because this started soon after me plumbing it in. I think I will do what you say and check the exchanger to see if something else has blocked it.

It is big I know, but handy. We decide to jump in and in 15mins we have hot water, much cheaper than electric.

Wow! That heater that you have is meant for a very large swimming pool, quite a bit oversized, i bet i gets the job done quick though. I have seen before that somebody plumbed in a heater backwards, there are elevated arrows on the black manifold of the heater, make sure inlet and outlet are plumbed in correctly. Make sure you get your water tested. Because the water in your hot tub is no circulating as often (I assume) as a pool would be, the stagnate water sits inside the heat exchanger. What can happen, for instance, if you have high calcium, is the certain tubes inside the heat exchanged can get so clogged with calcium and they are completely shut and the banging noise is due to excessive heat build up inside the heat exchanger. This can ruin a heat exchanger very quickly and the heat exchanger is half the cost of the heater if you were to get a new one. You can check and see if tubes in the heat exchanger are clogged by taking the manifold off of the heat exchanger, and shining a flashlight down the different tubes. However you have to disassemble quite a bit to actually be able to do that.

GFCI in primary power cord keeps going off turning off the hot tub.

This could be a number of things. First make sure your water flow is not impeded. Clean your filters or replace them check that there is no debris in the intakes or returns. There are fuses for each item from your power pack, you can unplug everything, lights, blower, pumps etc.. plug them in one at a time and when the GFCI trips that is the fuse you need to replace. Lastly, you could have a siezed motor or a bad GFCI for this you may want to call out a professional hot tub service company in your area.

I have a haywood H150 and checked current using a dcv meter and getting .56 volts from thermocoupler. Also checked current throughout unit and volts reading the same everywhere but pilot won't stay...

The solenoid inside the gas valve, the part that is supposed to assume the pilot light once the thermocouple is hot, is failing. You need a new gas valve. Your part number is HAXGSV0001 for natural gas or HAXGSVS0003 for propane.

Haywood heater has code sf what does that mean

SF is a thermistor error. Once the heater cools down it should reset itself. If not, call a service tech.

My Raypak versa gas heater for my hot tub will not heat the tub more then 96F, temp control is turned all the way up, just stated doing this, it was fine for a year, thanks

Water flo through the heater is too fast and the water can't get hot enough. Your by-pass valve is stuck closed and you need to open your water header and check it out. Or you may have an external by pass that need's to be opened 10-20%. This will be a valve between the inlet and outlet water pipes going to the heater. Good luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Hooking up a pool heater to propane.

A pressure regulator and pipe or hose. Whoever is selling you the tank/propane should be able to help you size everything based on the tank hook-up and tank pressure. The heater nameplate will tell you the proper inlet gas pressure that the regulator will need to reduce the tank pressure to.

Want to hook it up to my hot tub

Yes, these pool heaters are designed for use with a spa. They are made to accommodate temperatures for both a pool and a spa running off of the same heater. Check the owners manual for specific instructions.
