Question about HP Vectra VL400 P3 Skt 370 Motherboard D9820-60009

Hp vectra vl400 video problems

1GHZ 256MRAM 256Mvidram (nvidea7600)
I cannot watch fullscreen video clips (very jerky), and the video playback from home videos I've copied to the computer are very jerky as well. (These were copied using the USB connections from an external HD.)
Movies from the DVD drive are better, but there are times when that gets jerky as well. I can copy movies fromDVD and all is well.

The video was better with the previous video board but not perfect. (MATROX ML400)32MBvidram

I just want to know if this can be resolved with the amount of RAM I have right now, rather than buy more of the old PC133 that is getting harder and harder to find.

    Thanks

Thanks for all the help. I am running XP, but I don't understand why the Matrox board, with less video RAM performs better. I didn't mention that all of the latest updates for the new video card have been added.

One more note. I have a 1.4G Gateway machine, that has less vidRAM and only 128M RAM that outperforms the Vectra as far as video play back goes. there must be somekind of memory sharing going on that just has to be. I will try to upgrade the RAM.

    Thanks Again.

My guess is that amount of memory and that 1ghz psu you have, i asume that you running XP, gives you the best you get.
When you instaled that card, the card tok all of the resurses there where left, XP itself need at least 230-240mb of memory to run.
But i dont agree whit you about its hard to get PC133 memorysticks. Its easy and they are cheap.

Good luck!

What is next to the CPU that has a cooling coil

most likely it is a controller chip (Northbridge/southbridge) with either a fan or fan/heatsinc combination cooling it. some of these are screwed down , some have a pressure clip that seats into the motherboard to hold the fan/heatsinc down.
Hope this info helps you. Regards
